Ogden Tap Room — Restaurant in North Carolina

So we had a group of 20 people for a friends birthday. I come here often and love the food it’s really good but for some reason this particular day the waitresses seemed unprepared for our big fouls we had called ahead to let them know when we walked in the waitresses were sitting down at the front table just chillin there and then they al got up and sat us down. Then we sat down and order our food no problems there was only one family in the restaurant at the time and the other people started coming in and they all got served before my group of people there for we waited an hour and a half for our food. Because they cooked ours last we weren’t happy about that. We only had one waitress which was sad none of the other girls jumped on to help they were just standing around which is also even more sad that she had to handle all of us by her self this is a service industry you should always strive to serve others and help each other out I worked in a restaurant I would know I normally love this place but this experience changed my mind. So, I don’t enjoy leaving this kind of review. But sometimes, it’s relevant. We ate around 9:20ish pm on a Friday. First beer I tried to order was out. Then we ordered food. Our waitress forgot our appetizer. We tried to order the fried pickles and peppers. But she brought our main course within 10min. And said oops, I thought I forgot something. I ordered the shredded beef with an jus. They were out of au jus. But didnt say anything till she brought me my meal. At that point I said just give me the sandwich. Already fumbled our ap. Now I get a au jus less beef sandwich. Not sure the au jus would have helped this super dry sandwich. And if those mash potatoes are fresh and not instant, need to work on that recipe. Just bad all around. Friend ordered some chicken with rice. Rice was at best made that morning. Chicken covered in sauce to make up for the lack of seasoning that was on it. I don’t know when this food would be good. Seriously felt like the waitress didn’t care and the chef cared less. Worst food I’ve had in Wilmington. See no reason to go back. So many places to eat that...

We went there merely as a convenience to me ( I was leaving town to come back to New Bern) I had no preconceived notions other than I knew it would appeal to my son and his cute wife. I knew it would be fun because I was meeting them there. I never really look to see if food is considered good or not I just needed to eat and hit the road. The outside was pretty normal but the outside looked quite charming. We decided to eat in and had an absolutely delightful waitress Paige who did what she needed to do ( refill drinks and check in on us here and there ) but not too much that she was interrupting us. She was fabulous. We ordered dinner and it was out of this world! I hesitated to order the crab cakes ( because I love them so much and really hate it when I get bad ones🤣) and these may be the best I’ve ever had… including tons of coastal states and Maryland!
