So this is a hard review to write, but it's honest. This is the #1 Mexican restaurant in CO and maybe in the US. It's is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant that I frequent. However, after always dining at the original, the OG, I had heard the newest one in Castle Rock was awesome and had great views of the Southern CO mtns, so took a date and we went. Typical long waiting list to get seated, no suprise there and no big deal, so went to the bar to get a marg and that was fine, excellent service and system to serve patrons not seated at the bar and waiting for a table. It works great. Started to look around and soak it up looking at the views before getting seated. It was just ok on the interior, not anything that resembled a Mexican restaurant...bright and white color everywhere. No Mexican theme at all, was not a warm feeling...so keeping an open mind frame, wanted to sit in the western enclosed patio type of area, I don't know what to call this area as it's not really an enclosed patio, but let's go with that. So told the host stand pls try to seat us there to have the views, no problem they said. After getting the text our table was ready and being led to the area just described, it began to immediately be so loud that my date and I were at first shocked and looking at each other with big eyes, we sat down only to realize that it was so loud it was going to not even be acceptable. So I got up, went to the host stand, and asked to be reseated interior where we figured it would be much better. Well, it was not much better, maybe a little better, but still an issue. We ordered and ate, but the noise level as we ate grew to be an issue, there wasn't music, but the obnoxious noise of their wait staff every few minutes running around and literally screaming as they gathered around certain tables for a birthday celebrations. This definitely should be avoided as it only exaggerates the noise level and further sets you off after your trying to make due. The interior is just like sitting in a freshly painted empty Ross or TJ Max retail store, boring and really loud and too bright. I think the persons or company who did the interior design on this bldg failed miserably. Thank goodness their food is amazing and they have a super strong reputation already or else it would not end well for them here at this new location. As I said, this is a review that is hard to write and won't change my Love for their food, but I won't ever go back to this location again. Ear plugs...
Read moreOh, where do I start? I am usually only a 5 stars or pass on writing the review....but after 2 days the service and food were still on my mind.
We went out for date night & it was our first time at Los Dos....which had been recommended to us.
We waited 40 min for a table....no problem...whole foods is close by and they make amazing pie...we got one. Lol
We sit out on the enclosed balcony area with an amazing view....the chips, salsa and waters were already on the table...(no little plates....I grabbed those for my husband and myself off of the service shelf a few minutes later.)
Okay...the ordering is when the smh moments started. Our waitress...a young, brunette with a swinging ponytail. We were ready to order when she walked up....she didn't say her name.
I ordered cheese enchiladas and I asked if by chance they have the pickled carrots...(.the relish that is often served with salsa and chips. )The waitress looked like she had never heard the word carrot before. I quickly said....no worries. I say....the suprised look on your face says you don't. Just go ahead a take his order...talking about my husband. She proceeded to get hung up on the carrot thing....searching in her hand-held computerized menu... saying it wasn't in the sides. No worries. Just move on. She was still hung up on the carrot question asking if I wanted carrots inside of my enchiladas. Nope...just move on to his order the enchiladas del Mar and he also ordered a tea...I had water.
We get our food.... food runners from the kitchen brought it....and ...the cheese inside my enchiladas was still shredded and cold....not even melted together
We didn't hear from our waitress again until my husband flagged her down that we were ready to order dessert.....fried icecream....which she offered zero toppings for....even the display has chocolate on it....all the pics on Google have the ice cream done up with whipped cream, strawberries or chocolate. The ice cream was meh...and not fried but rather has some stale rice crispies on the outside and placed atop a fried bread.
Best and worst smh moment. When our inattentive and semi-rude waitress came with the check....not to check on us....no refill on the tea....no how's the food....She Poked The 20%TIP button before handing my husband the little handheld device to check out. Appalling! On so many fronts. The 20% button push by the waitress....was the move that prompted...
Read moreI’ve had a few family members recommend this location and my family and I were finally able to check it out today. The location is absolutely beautiful but I wish the service was to par. I’m not sure what was going on today. I get if maybe they were short staffed (but they weren’t) or whatever was going on, but in that case we should have never been sat without a set server. From the time we were seated to the time we were finally able to order was a horrible experience. Upon placing our party on the waiting list, I mentioned we needed a high chair. While we were sat, I mentioned we needed a high chair. It wasn’t until our 3rd interaction that we were told we were not in the right area to have a high chair placed. So okay, we went with a booster which was more of a hassle for us and was also broken. I was disappointed because that’s something that should have been noted or at least taken into consideration while we were being seated. After about 10 minutes of sitting, the family across from us that was seated just a few minutes before us had to waive someone down just to take their order, wasn’t even their server. We figured they’d come to us next… well that didn’t happen. Nearly 25 minutes later, that couple helped us flag someone down. She came and asked “what?” Kindly I stated we have been sitting here and we still haven’t had our order taken. She walked off but didn’t tell anyone. It wasn’t until about 5 minutes after that, a server came to our table and asked if we’d been helped. I explained the situation, he was the one that stated we weren’t able to have a high chair and finally assisted in taking our order. He mentioned he looked our way but didn’t know if we’d been helped or not and figured he’d ask. Thankfully he did. He also mentioned they had just switched areas so he wasn’t even supposed to be our server but was going to be (?). Thankfully he was a great server but I can’t even express how many people passed our table, made eye contact and walked off. Leading up to it was a horrible experience. Food was amazing but I more than likely will not recommend or be back to this location. We were offered 15% for the wait but I should have talked to the manager on the spot, they could have done way better than that especially considering we were put in that position with a baby and two other young children. The hassle was definitely not worth the...
