We have always enjoyed La Loma since they were in the Highlands in downtown Denver. Great food, vegetarian options. We stopped here at the Castle Rock location on our way home from a trip. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. Apparently, a male manager was having a bad day. He went up to the host and snapped at them asking if they were taking care of the guest. One host said yes. The manager snapped saying how come people in the waiting area were waving him down. Well, we did not wave him down but there was a man and woman who were sitting as we entered the restaurant and I don't know if they waved him down and the lady waiting to be interviewed did not wave him down. So he needed to calm down. They sat us in the outside dining area where the air was just amazing because of the wind and cloud cover. Now the other guests were unique. Two ladies brought a tablet and decided to turn up the volume and watch something while eating. So everyone was able to hear whatever they were listening to. The family at one end had 5 tablets for 5 kids that all had their volumes up. So 6 different tablets going. Talking in our party was a little hard to hear each other. The kids finally decided to go play out on the verandah that the restaurant has. But the lovely married couple who are married to others who are dating others putting on a show because the woman went with another guy was entertaining. But watching him rubbing her butt right next to my daughter was just rude. We were just wanting a decent lunch. But we got a total of 7 shows.

We brought in a Sprite and my cup with water in it. I placed them on the table. I had a stomach ache and warm Sprite helpes. The waitress comes over introduces herself and says we'll I see you brought your drink. So what else to drink? As she looks at my husband. I'm like can we get a Dr Pepper, ice water, and a cup of ice for my water which had medicine in it for my medical issues. She comes back with our drinks and to take our order. About 10 minutes later two runners brought our food, they were so friendly.

My daughter was missing her toastada. But everything looked great. She was also out of the Dr. Pepper. Our waitress checked on the other tables, passed us by several times over 40 minutes while we was eating. Did not check on us once. Another 10 minutes go by she us still ignoring us. At this point we need take home boxes. Still a drink and toastada for my daughter. I had my daughter go to the host desk to ask for her food, drink and take home boxes. My daughter explained to a lady up front that sadly we had not been checked on since our food came out. My daughter came back said they will help. Now the waitress stopps by. Really! Is there anything I can get you. I said yes my daughter needs a drink, her toastada and take home boxes please. She rolles her eyes said sorry ive been ugh just stuck and walks off. Um ok.

About five minutes later a nice woman came over with my daughters drink and toastada and apologized for her not getting her food.

The waitress comes to the table puts down a water for my husband, a drink for my daughter and slams a cup of ice on the edge of the table for me. We'll we just asked for a drink for my child but thank you. She leaves and comes back with take home boxes rolls her eyes says sorry again and tries to make up an excuse. Which no need but thank you. Than snickers something as she was walking away.

We pack up and move on. As we are getting in to the car we happened to notice she is standing at the window just staring at us. It was very uncomfortable. I dont know if Kaitlyn the waitress just don't like handicapped people, or people with color or maybe we don't dress fancy as we were in casual vacation clothes. It's like she judged a book by its cover. I've served in a restaurant when I was a teen. Treat all guest the same. You never know when the guest you just judged to not be worth your time, is the one who will treat...

Disturbed by Our Experience at La Loma

I’m writing to share a truly horrid experience we had at La Loma.

One of my close friends flew into Colorado with her fiancé to celebrate their recent engagement. I made a reservation 20 days in advance to ensure we had a special evening (see attached for proof). What should have been a night of joy and celebration quickly devolved into an upsetting and racially charged situation — one that left us shocked, violated, and deeply disappointed in the way management handled it.

Dinner started out fine — until dessert.

Red Flag #1: An older Caucasian woman approached our table and told us, “You guys need to go pick up the check with your server because we have a 7:30pm flight to catch.” We were stunned. We hadn’t even ordered dessert yet. For context, our group was predominantly Asian with a few Caucasian guests. Her tone and approach were intrusive and condescending, and completely unprovoked.

Red Flag #2: Another woman — Caucasian, wearing a green dress — suddenly stood right next to our table, leaning against the wall, and just stared at us while we ate. It was incredibly invasive and made us feel uncomfortable and watched.

Red Flag #3: Three older Caucasian men from the same group began hovering near our table — specifically around my 1-year-old daughter — in a way that felt intentionally intimidating. At that point, I was overwhelmed and deeply disturbed. I approached the manager, Zach, and told him I felt surrounded and unsafe, especially with strangers looming around my toddler.

Zach’s response was shocking: “I can’t do anything about this. I’m really sorry they’re harassing you. I don’t know if you know this about Castle Rock, but people behave like this. It’s happened many times here, and you’re not the first ones.”

He dismissed the behavior as “normal.” Let me be clear: it is not normal for a group of older men to surround a 1-year-old child. That is not acceptable under any circumstances.

Red Flag #4: The woman in the green dress then verbally attacked us, approaching our table and yelling, “You guys are horrible.” We had done nothing to provoke any of this. We had a reservation, and there were plenty of empty tables. Yet we were being targeted.

Red Flag #5: Despite knowing about the conflict, the host chose to seat their group directly in front of us. Why? Management was aware of the tension and had the opportunity to de-escalate the situation — but they did the opposite.

Red Flag #6: By this point, our evening was ruined. Their group sat laughing, pointing, and staring at us throughout dessert. I felt compelled to take a video to document the behavior (see attached).

Red Flag #7: When we finally got up to leave, their entire table clapped at us mockingly. We responded with the middle finger — not our proudest moment, but we were harassed to a breaking point.

Final Thoughts: La Loma’s management utterly failed in their responsibility to protect their guests. They allowed harassment to continue unchecked and took no meaningful steps to resolve the issue. When conflict arises between guests, it is the duty of staff to create space, give warnings, and if necessary, refuse service to the instigators. None of that happened.

I don’t want a comp. I don’t want anything in return. What I do want is accountability. If the restaurant truly has video footage of the incident, I would welcome them sharing it publicly. Let people see what actually happened — and how your team chose to handle it.

This was an example of passive racism and poor leadership. It’s 2025, and we are still experiencing...

On a sunny, but somewhat chilly day, with snow dusting the mountains, I decided to take a moment for lunch, alone - which is a rare moment. Upon first entering the brick walled lobby with a firplace, I was exited, but left telling myself I will not return or recommend. Copper tabletops, surrounded by leather, low back chairs - with an overall atmosphere giving an industrial/modern feel, while at the same time handing you a backyard vibe, as string lights hung above. The support beams had been made to look rusty. However, when eyes are drawn up, a good amount of dust could seen. If you are looking for a quiet location for a date or an important lunch meeting, please be warned that you will be surrounded by a lot of conversations already in play, which can make any place loud and since they have an open kitchen, noise can be heard from here as well, to include the breaking of plates and of course the sounds of food being prepared.....though I did see work lunches taking place. Dispite how busy it was, it was noticable to me that any parties with children and/or service dogs were kept to the back room - intentional or not, I have no issues, just pointing out something noticed. La Loma was still pretty busy for an early Friday afternoon. The women's bathroom has a changing table. Water was automatically being spigoted onto patrons' hands that were residing above a trough shaped, copper, sink. The temperature of water can be adjusted and paper towels are used. During my meal, a number of surrounding tables were left covered in used plates and cups and viewing the servers, to include mine, I believe his name was Ben, it just seemed like no-one was happy.....smiles were rare. Yes, a lone diner gives off the vibe of not wanting to be "bothered" and that the check might not warrant a large tip....which is how I was made to feel: server was barely present, about half way through my time and at the end of the meal I noticed my server (and other servers) starting tables with chips and salsa; salsa was never offered. At these points it was too late to even ask - but would have been nice for the server to acknowledge such, he did see me eatting the chips. I appreciate my hot food being served on a hot plate and of course my food to not be served cold (unless meant to be)....but my plate was overly hot and the food had to be left to cool down before I could eat bite two - it was all SUPER hot, with no warning given on either accord. For the price I paid, I would have expected my chicken to have flavor and not be dry, especially since the pollo tampico was said to be marinated in tropical juices. The enchilada barely had any cheese, for being a cheese enchilada. Prehaps I over analyzed, being as this was, as stated above, a rare occasion and I was hopeful for a nice treat.....but really some of this could not be overlooked.
