Hunan Joy — Restaurant in Catonsville

We ordered Teriyaki Beef sticks as an appetizer, and Curry Beef and General Tso for main dishes. The guy at the counter was friendly, and the food didn't take very long to be ready. But when it arrived ... I've never had beef sticks so small and bland, with mushy meat. Quite disappointed in those! The General Tso's was fine, but the pieces were huge and hard to chew, there was very little broccoli and the pieces were also huge, and the accompanying fried rice wasn't fried rice at all, but rather rice with some sort of sauce. The shrimp egg roll that came with the meal had 3 small bits of shrimp, and mostly just cabbage or some other filling. Bland and also disappointing. The Curry Beef had the opposite problem - it was mostly veggies, and small mushy bits of beef. My husband had been extremely hungry, but after a small amount couldn't finish most of it.

For $38.... this was altogether one of the worst takeouts we've ever had. I don't think it would be...

This mom and pop store is packed with orders on a Friday. The family run business is great. I placed an order on the spot and waiting in a well lit, clean, non-smelly area that had 2 tables for sit-ins. Ordered Generals Tso's, Veg Lo Mein and Veg Fried Rice. It took about 40 mins to get my food. Yes, that's a long time but as a first timer, this was worth it. I looked at reviews for a good Chinese food location. Thankfully I trusted the reviews. The General Tso's had big WHITE meat and they didn't skimp on the chicken. Most places have more batter and less chicken in this dish. Also the Lo Mein was NOT oily. The son taking the order was constantly on the phone taking orders, 2 lines at a time. Majority of folks just came to pickup their orders. Quantity was big and well worth the price paid. Great service, good food. Will be ordering here again, this time,...

I saw they were close by with great sushi options. I got in and sat down to look over the menu. As a customer came in, stood and waited after the worker answered 7 phone calls. 7! Before she helped the customer. I finally decided to try and place my order. She took 3 calls before she even looked at me standing there then finally said did you place an order over the phone? I said no. She said well you have to wait because everyone else ordered and I have people on the phone....I’m sorry but should I then sit there and call in and order for you to even acknowledge me. I’m so very disappoint in this business. I was always taught to help the person in front of you. She could have put them on hold and took my order. I understand you are a busy place but your service to customers who walk in is terrible. So FYI make sure you CALL...
