A fantastic choice for food at any turn! Everything that was ordered was great quality (will go into that later) the hospitality was also top notch, our waitress was the kindest person!
What we ordered: Onion rings - as a side, this is meant for only 1 person. The batter was a light but sturdy bite and just the right crunch! Onions inside are fresh and tender, no onions pulling out when you eat these!
The Jumbo Cheese and Crab - be warned this is PRETTY BIG. Definitely a 3-4 person endeavor or just get the rest in a takeout container! Pretzel itself had a delicate outer crunch with a luxuriously soft inside texture. The dough was cooked all the way through. This is a severe upgrade from your standard jumbo pretzel.
Pot Roast Entrée - Heavy, earthy, rich, and very homestyle. A big plate with big chunks of beef, carrots, potatoes, the works. A sweet, deceptively heavy gravy sauce that coats everything, with equally satisfying fresh rolls to match. The meat was fully cooked but not dry. There's a pleasant note from the carrots and potatoes that entice the appetite. The rolls aren't a slough either. Fresh, warm, delicate crust with an impossibly lush center, cuts super easy with a butter knife. Delicious overall.
Chicken Pot Pie - The dish was an artistic piece. Beautiful presentation with the puff pastry on top. You can see the layers in the pastry, and it's perfectly browned on top. The taste was exquisite, you can really taste the butter in every layer! Underneath you find a steaming hot pile of hot chunky GOLD. The seemingly standard filling offering is elevated by the gravy sauce that has a cheese look without the heavy greasy taste and feeling.
While I'm visiting from Philadelphia, I would make this place a destination to return to...
Read moreI was discriminated against! I was meeting a friend for Happy Hour. We normally get the elderly waitress who is very sweet.. This time it was a white lady in her mid 50's. She approached me with attitude no smile. I ordered drinks for my friend and I who was not there as of yet. When she came back with the drinks, I gave her our order. She said to me, "you know you can't take the food with you?".. My response was, "What do you mean?" She begins to tell me that I can't order take out with Happy Hour prices.. I'm confused at this point because why would I order take out if I'm seated?? She explained that the last time I was there, I tried to get take out at the Happy Hour prices. ??? I have no idea what she's talking about. I've never done that but more importantly, I've never seen this lady in my life. Now I am insulted. When I explained this to her she just stated that she thought that was me. She offered no apology. I asked her did she realize how insulting that was and if she asked anyone else that question? By this time my friend came in and we both agreed to leave but not before speaking to the manager. When I asked her for the manager, she POINTS her pen in my face and tells me that she's "offended"!! Not only was I insulted but in fear for my safety. She's yelling and pointing her finger in my face! How dare she? I took the high road and didn't act like she expected "me" to. We were the only black people there so all eyes were on us during this fiasco.. We spoke to the manager who claimed she would speak to her. Whatever!! I feel that was not enough! I am in the process of writting letters to certain officials. This is 2016 not 1966.. It was unacceptable to be discriminated then and most certainly...
Read moreSaving Grace was the bartender R. who was gracious and pleasant, even under the stress of a full house. Some of the food options were pretty good, I like the oysters. Cream of crab soup was decent, side salad, nachos were pretty good, potato skins were also quite tasty though they were missing the chives. They have some problems. Hope they straighten them out. I want to see them do well. The Stella Artois draft was a bit skunky couldn't drink it. Our nachos did not come with guacamole that was advertised nor chives. They had the guac in the kitchen but no chives. I seriously think they were trying to skimp because it's an expensive ingredient. Potato skins had bacon melted into them even though my vegetarian wife requested no bacon. But the craziest you've got to be kidding me moment was the vegan delight sausage pasta dish that came out way different than what the menu described. It was supposed to have ravioli, they were out of ravioli so they threw in some thick spaghetti that was flavorless. It was also supposed to have onions and peppers in the Italian-sausage marinara but instead it had chopped asparagus. I do like asparagus, but it had no business being in an Italian sausage marinara. I do not understand who is running this kitchen that thinks it is okay to completely change a dish and send it out without warning the customer it's going to be totally different. Also, the bartender and wait staff were unaware of what the...
