Last night, I dined-in for dinner with a date who brought his registered service dog. We sat at a 4 top, and the dog sat in a chair. The spicy pig pizza was decent.
We had just finished eating when a man (presumably the owner) stomped toward our table. He angrily told my date that he knew he "had to" let the dog in, but he wanted it off the chair immediately and on the floor where she belonged. He was red faced and pointing. My date politely told the man the dog was working, was vested and tethered, and was not eating or touching the table. He told the owner he didn't see the problem. The owner (?) turned redder, raised his voice and aggressively pointed at the dog and my friend and repeated, with curse words, that he wanted her off the chair. He berated and cussed us out of the restaurant. Then he accused my friend of not even "needing" a service animal and snidely asked what he had a dog for. To be fair, my date did eventually cuss back and politely offer to take the discussion outside. The owner declined - I'd say the owner was all bark and no bite, but let's not disparage dogs with a comparison to this guy - and we left.
While I've waited a day to calm down enough to write this review, I've researched service dog policy with the ADA. Seems like a service animal in a chair is a gray area, and business owners have some, or all, autonomy. Fine. No problem. My issue is not with the restaurant's policy - though it should be posted if it's such a sticking point. My issue is with the assanine owner who had the audacity to accost paying, quiet customers with anger and aggression instead of approach and politely state his policy. My issue is with a business owner questioning the needs of a veteran with a service animal. My issue is with him questioning ANY person's need for a vested, tethered, well-trained service animal. My issue is that a business owner conducts business this way. Some might shrug it off as "everybody has a bad day." But based on the way this guy responds to other one-star reviews on google, aggression and anger seem to be his baseline. We live in a world full of hate, and this guy is adding to the load. Bless his heart, he needs Jesus. I'ma pray for his dusty, moth-eaten soul. I'm also lodging complaints with the ADA, BBB, and spreading the word that Cave City Pizza has terrible customer service.
Find somewhere else to eat.
And to all the veterans out there: this guy might not see your sacrifice, but I do. Thank you for...
Read moreAbsolutely PIZZALICIOUS! We were first time customers and found this GEM of a small restaurant. We decided to try the pulled pork pizza to mix it up on our mini vacay to Kentucky. To start at the foundation is their crust- full flavored, crisp bottom, golden perfection (I personally judge pizza by the crust quality). The pulled pork topping was glorious- each bite held tender savory chunks of porky goodness glazed in BBQ sauce that was neither too sweet (which we find off putting) nor too savory balanced with a touch of spiciness and the bacon lends the perfect amount of saltiness needed to round out the flavor profile. The combination of cheeses was an ooey gooey balance of mozzarella and cheddar topped with piquant red onion slightly kissed with char and served piping hot. I have only had two other pizzas of this quality that left such memorable impressions- 1st in Italy and 2nd Nevada City, CA. I was instantly transported to both the previous places from the first skeptical bite. When someone is capable of transporting you to such places in your memories through one bite of their food it must be shared with the world 🌎. Thank you Cave City Pizza you are a true culinary gem that needs to be shared! We are already making plans to return to explore and try your other curated pizza options in the near future. My only criticism is that you need to get some really cool stickers and some merch 😎 My rating is 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕 out of 5 Keep up the consistency! Read moreOur family loves pizza! So much so that we make it a point to eat at a local pizza spot wherever we visit. Cave City is where we stayed on a vacation at a local AirBNB, and this place was one of the suggested eateries. We walked in and were immediately welcomed by the lady at the counter. She was very friendly and had us choose whichever table we wanted. Once we were ready to order, she directed us to come to the counter and pay. We had waited two days to eat here since they carry odd hours, but it seems that they are lacking proper staffing numbers to do so. This lady was seemingly taking orders for everyone at the counter and delivering the pizza to each table. It wasn’t terribly busy in there but steady. The pizza came out nice and hot, but I was immediately disappointed to see that the margarita pizza was visually sub par. I took a bite hoping for the best, but it was essentially a cheese pizza with some fresh chopped basil on top. There were no Roma tomato slices and no chunks of melted mozzarella. The taste was very very disappointing. My husband ordered the deluxe and said the same. His toppings were a healthy portion but the flavor was lacking. The crust wasn’t bad; an in between of regular and thin. We are thin crust lovers, so this crust wasn’t too bad. Overall we would not choose to eat here again. What had us a little perturbed was that we couldn’t even order cups of water. You were forced to buy everything in bottles which we don’t do, and we were not allowed to bring our own metal...
