Heard about this place from the video review of a colleague after which I said if I was ever in the area I would visit. I was now going to be passing through on my way to catch a cruise ship out of Charleston. We got a flat tire on the way however after getting that taken care of we were now on our way to Reggae Grill. According to their Google business page they open at 11a on Thursdays. My husband and I arrived at 10:59a. I went to the door and it was locked. We sat in the car of their parking lot until 11:38a. During this time several cars pulled up and people discussing the time that they’re supposed to be open. While standing in front of the building one lady in particular was on the phone with someone yelling about how it was raining and they hadn’t opened yet (yes! It was raining as well!) She added that she just can’t do nothing on time. A gentleman, whom I assume owns the place, pulled up and told this particular lady that they open at 11:30a then he went to the back of the building. Around 11:35a as he was walking back around this same lady now getting into her car said “I thought you said yall open at 11:30a. He asked what time it was and she told him 11:35a. He responded that the lady that works in the front hasn’t gotten there yet. Needless to say I was disappointed because I was looking forward to the same experience that I saw on this video review that led me here. Unfortunately I’ll have to settle for...

Horrible service and horrible food. Went there the first time and purchased escovitched fish with rice and peas and greens and a side of plantains which I paid extra for. When I got to work I noticed that I did not get my plantain. It was disappointing because the food wasn’t that good and I was looking forward to the plantains. I called them and the lady apologized and said she has the plantain and next time I go there not only will I get my plantain but I’ll be generously compensated. I said ok and agree to try them a second time. Well.... the second time I went, I ordered another escovitched snapper and shrimp roti ($30 purchase) when I asked for my plantain and the so called generous compensation... I was told replacing my plantain (which I had already paid for) was my compensation. The lady was rude and abrasive: I did not want to argue so I just paid for my food and left... was the food good the second time around? NO. Nasty. Roti was dry and tasteless. Fish was very bland all on top of the horrible service. If you’re going to have poor service make sure the food is good at least. Note I was warned by a friend who had been there before me that the food was bad and service horrible but I had to try it myself. I would NOT RECOMMEND. Total...

First of all the cabbage has no flavor, very bland, watery, the macaroni and cheese is a square of noodles and cheese ,partially burnt ,the plates are completely too small, what are Coco bread just to receive white dinner rolls with no flavor, order pineapple upside down cake and got charged for it,did not receive it and was told they were out ..but it did not come off of the price. I've never received oxtails from anywhere without rice being under it.. the oxtails stew, is very liquid-ish not thick , honestly taste like watered down BBQ sauce . Can we go to the fact that you're paying $20 for this meal and you are having the smallest pieces of meat an the largest pieces of bone!! And again the plates are tremendously small these are not dinner size plates... Maybe it's because I'm a Caribbean woman ,that has a taste pallet of Haitian & Puerto Ricans. (* Bc I am lol ) But love Jamaican authentic food Jamaican inspired food but this honestly makes me never want to try it again. I got so many great reviews from a few people and I'm truly...

Out-of-towners. Glad that we stopped. Looked like a typical Jamaican spot, but then we discovered a hidden jewel, once we stepped inside 😉 They have a nice bar, Rum Punch was IT!! She made a great long island iced tea, as well. There is a lounge on the other side that had a pool table, dj, another bar and high tables. They were even playing dominoes! I had jerk chicken, wasn't my the best I'd had, but my brother loved it. Mac & Cheese was decent buuuttt the greens, the greens, the greens- GOOD!! My friends had fried chicken (but no crust), unsure if their's is fried naked or if the order changed when she only requested wings as her white meat. Either way, she said the flavor was good. Our other friend said the rasta pasta with shrimp was really flavorful but was skimpy on the shrimp. Our bartender/waitress was so polite and attentive. We didn't try the desserts, and I regret it. They had a 3-layer pineapple cake that looked like something my grandmother made!! We'll definitely visit again when we return.

Good was on point. Great happy hour and place to chill. They support Vets and first responders with a lil discount.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME! Upon arrival, we weren’t greeted and waited for about 15 mins to be acknowledged, after my boyfriend said something. When we received the food it didn’t look appetizing and my plantains were brunt; however, I still was going to try it. All of a sudden a cockroach jumped on the table and ran across it. We immediately told the lady working and she informed the manager. The puzzling part was the manager seemed very unfazed, came with a broom, swept it up but downplayed the whole event. HE DIDN’T EVEN APOLOGIZE, SAY DO YOU WANT SOMETHING ELSE OR COMP THE FOOD. When I mentioned that to him he goes “it doesn’t work like that” I’m like it certainly does! To add, another couple drove 20 mins to bring their food back which wasn’t prepared properly or eatable. We still paid for our food although we didn’t eat it because we weren’t going to argue with him; however, what I am going to do is contact DHEC and report it. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE OR COMMON DECENCY!
