Edit - Came back for a 2nd time on a Sunday for my birthday at lunch time. Since it is the weekend, the menu is different and a little higher priced but still very reasonable for the choices - I am glad because I got to try the Prime Rib. It was very good, and. came exactly as I ordered it. Impressed considering the price of beef, it was a great value. I had a choice of potato and ordered the garlic mashed potatoes. Both portions were huge. The dinner also came with relishes at the table (kidney bean salad and Cole slaw salad), choice of soup or salad, entree, choice of potato. Since it was my birthday the server was kind and brought out a slice of chocolate cheese cake with a candle on it. Very good, and had great service. I added photos of the Prime Rib and Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and pick 3 platter that my son ordered (Lake Perch, some kind of steak and chicken) that also came with a choice of potato.
Original - First time here, so first impression. Have heard from word of mouth to go here for good food. Went for a late lunch instead of dinner and table was easy to get because of the timing. Lunch menu is reasonably priced, which included some plated options that were like a full dinner. Also on the menu were sandwiches, salads, soup and soup of the day. We chose to have Chicken Noodle Soup and the Specialty Sweet Potato Apple Soup (came with bread basket). Also Key West Pasta with Shrimp & Angel Hair Pasta with Butter and Garlic Sauce (came with slices of bread) and Homemade Meatloaf, onions in sauce, mashed potatoes and green beans. Food was good, service was good. Definitely would go back. Tables were comfortable (wood with chairs) and enough room to walk around. Halloween decorations were noticed, and noticed good music in the...
Read moreWow this place is a MUST GO TO place. Everything was absolutley fantastic. From the appetizers all the way to the dessert. My fiancé and I came here for dinner after hearing much about this place. Walking in, it's super busy but somehow still has a very calm atmosphere. Everyone's talking but its still quiet and relaxing.
Our waitress was Megan S. She was awesome and did an amazing job taking care of us. She was very attentive to our table but not over the top. Literally gave us the perfect amount of time to taste our food before she asked us how everything was. Not the typical 2.7 seconds after serving and before our first bite lol.
With every meal they serve bread and seemed like little garlic bread biscuits. Along with 2 "relish samples," which were very good. For our appetizer we got the the spinach artichoke dip. Highly recommend.
We got soup before our entre which was beef & vegetable. I was hoping it was more of a creamy soup but I'm glad it wasnt because oh.my.lanta. This soup was THEbomb.COM. Had a little kick to it 👌🏼. Top 3 soup for me.
For an entre I got the crab legs and sauteed perch with mashed potatoes. Was very good. (So many good options to choose from but they have an option to put together multiple combinations which was great!) My fiancé had the NY Strip and mashed potatoes. Was also very good as well.
This place was so good we kept over hearing the people next to us talk about how good it was as well!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHECKING THIS PLACE OUT! WE...
Read moreMcVey’s Restaurant is located on Commercial Ave., within the small town of Lowell, IN. Each visit I have been met with a fine dining experience. There is a main dining room and smaller bar room both of which are well suited with many tables. I would recommend making reservations especially on weekends to ensure a reasonable wait time. The food is quality supper club fare which starts off with complimentary cold salads of kidney beans, cole slaw & aewsome garlic bread basket. There is a substantial wine list to choose from as well as beer. Steaks, chops & chicken are main entrees but I find the cheeseburger to be the “best bang for your buck” at around $10.00. It is quite substantial and comes with a choice of potato as your side. Many locals frequent regularly as this is a fine mix between casual & upscale. It is a little hidden gem in the center of our town. The restaurant & restrooms are clean, inviting & service very good. There is parking in the rear and you can also enter from the back door making it convenient for customers. I would recommend this venue for date night, special occasions such as birthday, holidays or simply gathering for lunch with friends. I recommend McVey’s wholeheartedly. I am not affiliated with McVey’s Restaurant this is my personal opinion & experience to...
