You said: The service: Made a reservation on tuesday for 6 pm. Despite this, no table was ready. My date and i were wating a solid 15 minutes past the scheduled time. The waitress was SUPER friendly so thats a plus! The service score only increases because of her.
The food: I ordered a burger and my date ordered shrimp tacos. The burger tasted very bland for the price i paid. (15 dollars???) along with the fries. My date lost her sense of taste to covid so she perfers textures. She described the texture of the shrimp to be tough and kinda gamey. (Idk its shrimp.) I tasted it and it was infact, undercooked and overpriced.
The atmosphere:. I really wanted to like this place, but the fly problem is absolutely unacceptable. We lost our appetite after flies landed in our food. Its a nice place but definitely not for sitting down and eating. Grab a drink put in a carry out order and enjoy the boardwalk village stuff. Its good food if youre drunk, dont care what you eat, and have money to throw away. I had a gift card to try this food out. I really dont think id spend my own money here ChatGPT said: Got it — thanks for sharing your draft! Here’s a refined version of your review that keeps your honesty and personality but makes it flow smoother and read more polished:
The Service: I made a reservation for 6 PM on Tuesday, but when we arrived, no table was ready. My date and I ended up waiting about 15 minutes past our scheduled time. The one bright spot was our waitress—she was incredibly friendly and attentive, and honestly the only reason I’d rate service higher than a one-star.
The Food: I ordered the burger while my date went with the shrimp tacos. Unfortunately, the burger was bland and definitely not worth the $15 price tag. The fries were just as forgettable. My date, who focuses more on textures due to lingering effects from COVID, described the shrimp as tough and somewhat gamey. I tried them myself and found they were not only unpleasant but also undercooked. Overpriced and underwhelming pretty much sums it up.
The Atmosphere: This was the biggest disappointment. I wanted to like the place, but the fly problem was impossible to ignore. Having flies land on our food killed our appetite completely. It’s a shame, because the setting itself is nice. Honestly, this spot is better suited for grabbing a drink or a carryout order while enjoying the boardwalk, not for sitting down to eat.
Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a casual spot to eat after a few drinks and don’t mind spending extra for mediocre food, maybe it works. But for me, even with a gift card, it wasn’t worth it. I definitely wouldn’t spend my own money here.
Tldr: My bill came out to around $60 for 2 people. The meal felt...
Read moreMy family stayed at the Boardwalk Village next door (very nice BTW) this past weekend, gathering for a family event on Monday, with everyone arriving on Sunday at various times, we desired to eat locally and hopefully easily. One of our party walked to the Grill and made reservations for 6pm. The hostess told her that they only take reservations for groups up to 14, but if the others come, they can seat the groups as room allows (We had about 20 potential diners). So, she made the reservations.
Due to the limit, and as per suggestion by the hostess, several family members went over early and got seated, then the rest of the group arrived at 6pm for a total of about 18 if I remember correctly. Once the group arrived, the manager, Ms. Anderson, went ballistic on the group telling us that we could not have a group over 14. At 6pm, over half of the tables were open even with our group seated.
She said only 14 people could stay, and the folks who were seated first had to go (they even bussed their table!). We were incredulous. Several members of the party had already ordered drinks and appetizers. From there, the manager's response to our shock and surprise was to take a very nasty attitude, and repeatedly answer "we have rules!" I asked to talk to the owner, her response is that he was not there, and she was in charge. After a few minutes of back and forth that admittedly got heated, we were forced to assume they were actually serious about rejecting a reservation for a group that was well within current capacity of the restaurant. Everyone got up and left mostly out of anger and astonishment.
The manager was clearly willing to forgo a bill easily at least $1,200 for a rule, ha! Later we heard from someone that the kitchen closed at 6:30 (something never advertised of mentioned during this whole ordeal). My guess is that manager had one of two problems. Kitchen staff that would not be able to deliver food in a timely basis, or wait staff that fully expected to be out of there early. Either way, our group, not a bunch of hotheads that included several octogenarians would have listened to a reasoned response and even been understanding, instead we got led down a path to thinking we had reservations and then got treated like we were some kind of hooligans (I was half expecting the manager to call the cops!)
My suggestion to the owner is to seriously work with management on how to handle groups and especially groups near closing times. In the meantime, this family (several live in Celina) will not be recommending this establishment to their friends. Celina Wine Store pizza is a pretty darn good alternative on a Sunday evening, especially if you like your...
Read moreFirst time eating here and will be the last. Table was wet when we sat down and bugs everywhere. Considering it's lake restaurant I guess that could be expected some (the bugs) I asked the server for a new pop there was an issue with the carbonation and she gave me a new pop same issue. My meal came out OK. I got fish tacos with a side of fries It was OK but nothing great but cost $15 for 3 tacos, $3.50 for unevenly cooked fries, $3.00 for pop.. Food was not worth the price at all. My boyfriend got a burger with no cheese but came out with cheese on it so his whole meal was remade. Again, OK but not very good. His burger was $14, fries and coleslaw $3.50, $3 pop. We also had the pretzel with cheese appitzer that was over cooked and wasn't very good for $13. We both agreed that the food wasn't very good. One of the kitchen guys, maybe a dish washer came out to give the bar some cutting boards and had his finger in his nose. Other kitchen ppl running thier fingers through there hair and touching stuff then touching food plates at the window. Servers hanging out in a group and on thier phones. Our bill was almost $60 and we were not impressed from the moment we sat down until we left. If the food was at least good then it wod be different but, it wasn't good just something to eat if your hungry enough and that's the only option. We were going to go uptown restaurants but they were closed on Sunday. We will not be back to this restaurant. I hope they can get new managers and work on the staff and kitchen. We don't mind going to places that cost more but, if prices are as high as this place I would expect better quality. Another thing, please have servers write orders down. I know some ppl have good memories however every single time I've been anywhere and had a server not write down the order something always...
