This restaurant has really good food. Prices are okay. Location is great! Great love music on weekends. The pies are wonderful and made by the owner himself. This is a casual, small town restaurant full of charm. Staff are friendly.
Weekday lunching here has left me underwhelmed and unimpressed. The restaurant has been only slightly busy during the 6 recent weekday lunch times I’ve come to eat. The service during these visits has been unexplainable slow. Today I was seated and waited 10 minutes before being greeted by my server. During the ten minutes I waited, I watched staff chat with other customers, chat with each other, serve the only other table being occupied and change the channel on both TVs.
I’ve ordered the chopped wagyu steak numerous times. It’s wonderful. But today, for the first time, it was served to me smothered in disgusting “jar of brown” gravy. I scraped off the offending fake gravy, but the horrid taste had already infected the divine flavor that is the chopped wagyu. What a waste! They’ve served this to me a few different ways even though I keep ordering the same exact thing. So- clearly, consistency is an issue.
Each of my lunch visits have left me thirsty with no sign of a drink refill and struggling to even get my check so I can pay and leave.
I really want to love this place. I really do. Maybe they just aren’t equipped to handle lunch business. I’ve never had these issues for dinner or on weekends.
I’m going to patronize the other dining establishments on the square for lunch where service and quality is consistent during all the opening hours. Hopefully things will improve and I can come back for lunch sometime.
Oh- the fried okra is the most bland I’ve ever tasted. There’s not enough salt in the...
Read moreI had heard that the service was not what it used to be but had not been there for a while. I used to really like it. The food is still very good. The experience began with trying to phone in an order with no one ever answering so I drove over there. When I got there they told me they could hear it ringing but couldn't find the phone.
After waiting ten minutes I was able to place my order and ordered the special with tomatoes on the side of the salad figuring the special would be quick. After about five minutes they brought it but had forgotten to bring any dressing. While they were gone I noticed the tomatoes were not on the side and that the potatoes had no gravy so when she came back after quite a wait, I pointed it out. She took the items and disappeared again for quite a while, saying the tomatoes were now in a container. Little did I know the container had no lid so when I got back to the office, they had spilled out all over the salad, defeating the purpose of getting them on the side and trying to keep the seeds off my salad.
In all, it was a 45 minute wait to get my to-go order and then be able to head back to work. Had I known it was going to take so long, I would have gone somewhere else. It will be a while before I try that again. I guess if they don't answer the phone, that...
Read moreNice atmosphere, the lady who sat us was super friendly. The one who waited on us sure seemed irritated about something. My eating partner stated first that he would liked to have asked her for something else, but wasn't sure that she might throw it at him, I definitely agreed. To me, lunch specials were expensive, $9.99 now the going rate for very mediocre meat loaf and one side? Who ever heard of bbq sauce on meatloaf? The only flavor it had was some kind of char/smoke, the mushrooms and near raw onions on tip didn't help it much. I believe you could use the mashed potatoes as mortar in a brick/wall project. My grandmother made the best chocolate pies in the world, the desert served definitely was not hers. My bill arrived at $16 plus change and never saw the waitress again for any change from a $20 bill, he'll of a way to make sure you are tipped, I suppose. My buddy had eaten here before, was excited to be there, I would pass next time and I'm not sure that he wouldn't either. If snooty, high priced, semi ok food is your thing, you might like it, wasn't happy about the experience at all. Unless you're exhausted and want out of the heat, keep going, I...
