This is not my first time at Toleys but it was different for sure. Went in for a casual lunch with my father; 2 beers I ordered were not available. After checking the menu it was hard to get Jackson's attention from the counter and I observed him eating, vaping and playing dice on the bar. After we ordered food I was informed the chef needed to 'prep' meat for the Philly cheese steak on menu. I ordered a different sandwich and we ate. Once again it was hard to get to servers attention: I noticed a female walk from the kitchen to the time clock and then to the floor. When I approached the woman and said "we are done can we get a check here?" She looked at me like I was speaking speaking a foreign language. Seeing her reaction I thought I made a mistake and I asked "do you work here?" She responded "yes" at which point another server stepped in and said "she's the owner and just got here". Even if you're the owner you should be happy we are coming in and accommodate customers even if you just got there. She didn't even seem happy to have an establishment and paying customers in it. I'm on the leadership team at my place of work too and this would be unacceptable behavior for my associates. Smoking and playing dice at the bar is by far the most egregious...
Read moreAfter so many years of frequenting this establishment, I'm compelled to address an issue of this place. Her name is AMY, and she "works" as a bartender at this bar. Truth be told, she only really stands around one corner of the bar, serving a select number of patrons, ignoring the bar in general. I personally waited over 10 minutes for a drink, on a night without many patrons. In addition to this, when she "deigned" to see the other half of the bar, I personally witnessed her fill my drink with soda water instead of soda. When I asked why she would do this, I was subjected to snide remarks and antagonistic behavior both during and after the exchange. AMY even came to my location on the patio and continued the antagonistic exchange, attempting to belittle me about the confrontation. I promptly asked her to cancel my order and provide me my tab. Sadly, this is the reason I no longer frequent this establishment. To the owner....if you have any respect for your long term customers, you will fire this person immediately. There have been many an time that I have left this bar because I realized that AMY was the bartender, and now, thanks to this, you can be assured I will never frequent...
Read moreI really want to like Toley's as it is very close to my house. The food here is very good but they have a couple of serious issues they need to work on. First, when a band is playing it is very loud. The acoustics in this place cause the sound to bounce/reverberate thru out. If you like to have your ears bleeding while you eat this is the place to go. Maybe have bands play later in the evening and not right at times when people are eating? Second is the service. We have had to wait a while to get someone to even come to our table and get our drink order. Last time we were there we sat outside because it was so loud. No on came around to get our drink order so I went inside to the bar. Ordered our drinks and told the person behind the bar we were outside and wanted to order food. I even asked if someone would come out or if we needed to order inside. They said someone would be out...sat there for a half hour slowly having our drinks and no one ever came out. Finally left and ate somewhere else. After several visits with poor service like this and the noise factor we have decided to go elsewhere...
