Sweet Retreat Cake Boutique — Restaurant in Center Township

Original Post: This was such a horrible experience at Cake Retreats. We were supposed to have a party to serve cake and ice cream and could not do it because of how the cake looked when we got home. We live no more than 7 mins from the bakery and within that time the cake was sinking into the bottom layer. It also, was sliding to the point where it almost fell out of the box. We knew that it was definitely something wrong with the structure of the cake after seeing this. As we cut into the cake it was being supported in the middle by small cheap plastic straws. I have never seen something so unprofessional in my life. It was truly such a disappointment! The only reason why I gave it 1 star was because the cake itself was good. However, the presentation was absolutely horrible. When I (myself) reached out to the owner she never apologized or offered any accommodation. Even when we sent pictures of how the cake looked after a 7 min drive home the owner mentioned that the cake looked fine while in the bakery so it had nothing to do with her how it looked after it left! Even though she was aware that the cake was only being supported with a thin piece of cardboard and 3 small plastics straws. This was a 2 tier cake and that was not enough support. I hate to say it but myself and many other people including workmates, graduates, facilities, and families will no longer choose to work with Sweet Retreats again!

Reply post: The owner only replied to my message after I mentioned that it was posted on Google reviews. Also, the owner posted private screenshots of our conversation on Facebook! I will know ask bakeries how their cakes are supported to make sure I never have to Go...

This was our 3rd cake from Sweet Retreat and we've loved them all! I reached out through messenger and received an almost instant response. She was excited to do the cake and was a joy to work with. I showed her the Dolly Parton themed stuff I was working with, gave her complete creative control, and was so happy with the results! My Dolly cake topper didn't arrive on time, so she was able to make an edible image and attach it to the cake saving the day! Everyone was raving about how beautiful it was and how delicious it was. The cake was very structurally sound, had super thick layers of Oreo cream, and was absolutely beautiful. The Oreo layer is a thick pudding-like consistency, yet somehow thicker...it's sooo good! After several hours, a third of the cake is still standing...I have no idea where the 1 star reviews are coming from. Our experiences have been amazing from start to finish over the past 3 years. Subject: Feedback on Recent Order Experience

I wanted to share my recent experience regarding a large order I placed for our business open house, scheduled for pickup at 9 AM this morning. My husband arrived at the designated time, only to find the lights off and the door locked. A message on the door stated that the business was out on a delivery and advised to call for assistance.

Despite my husband's repeated attempts to reach someone by phone, there was no response. As a result, we were left without desserts for our event. In the meantime, he had to go to Beck's Bakery down the street to source items for the dessert table.

At 9:44 AM, I received a Facebook message from the owner, which included several excuses for the situation.
