TR''s Steaks and More is a buffet restaurant. Seafood night (Friday) is exceptional. Lots of fried catfish, whole or cut up. Shrimp, fried, broiled, boiled. Nice buffet for a small rural town. Baked potatoes are on the buffet, along with the fixings. All the fried chicken you can eat, along with mash potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. Great stuff if a lot kids are in your group.
There is a small TexMex food bar with all you can eat fajitas that you fix. There are also shells for tacos that you make. And tamales and enchiladas.
A salad bar has good choices, although the salad dressings aren't well labeled.
The menu has non-buffet items, such as burgers, steak, grilled chicken, chicken fried this 'n that.
Staff always asks if you want a roll, and are happy to service your meal.
Most of the customers are locals, repeat customers. Senior discounts are available and one hint: save money by selecting iced water rather than iced tea or a soft drink. Desert bar is good, with puddings, pies, cakes. A DQ-type ice cream dispenser is there as well.
The atmosphere is very noisy due to folks enjoying their meals, talking. It is a good restaurant.
BTW, the cost is cheaper than buying a hamburger, french fries, and a drink at the burger place...
Read moreWe found this place on our drive from Oklahoma back to Louisiana. I’ll be honest. Walking in, I didn’t expect much. The place looked like your average buffet, but then something magical happened. I took one bite. The food here doesn’t just taste good. It tastes familiar. Like, Sunday at Grandma’s kind of familiar. The mashed potatoes were creamy, the green beans had that perfect snap, and don’t get me started on the meatloaf. Actually, do. I ate enough meatloaf to feed a medium sized scout troop, and I regret nothing.
The variety was impressive, but what really stood out was the quality. You know how most buffets trade flavor for quantity? Not here. Every dish felt like it had been made with actual care. Not scooped from a can or microwaved in a panic.
And did I eat more than I should have? Absolutely. Did I feel a little ashamed afterward? Also yes. But mostly, I felt full in the best way. Nostalgic, satisfied, and already plotting my return. Rain or shine, this place is worth it. Grandma...
Read moreAlways pretty good food. Many times the buffet table isnt hot enough and the items are lukewarm at best. Also i think a hand sanitizer by the buffet line should be used and a sign to encourage use. I saw a man pick his nose while at the buffet and then he continued to touch all the utensils with same hand. I was so disgusted that my meal was ruined. Did not want to touch those utensils after that. I dont know how you can police everybody, besides maybe make everybody wear gloves that want to use buffet. My next complaint is about the children that run up to the buffet and touch food and decide they dont want it after all and put it back. Come on! Where are these parents and why arent they watching there children. No one under age 13 should be allowed near that buffet without an adult. This is how diseases are spread. More care should be taken. I mean, your entire business is mostly your buffet. People start getting sick and no one will want...
