We had a group of 8 for dinner on a Saturday evening, so I called ahead to check on the wait. I was told that they didn't hold tables or do reservations, but the current wait was about 15 minutes. We were at the restaurant within 15 minutes, and I was told by the hostess that it'd be about 20 minutes. After watching multiple groups move through, we started watching tables. It was pretty clear that the hostess staff were waiting on a couple of large tables which had recently been seated and were making no effort to put together a plan for our group. So, after 30 minutes, I asked for an update and was told that it could be at least another 20 minutes. I pressed a bit, and we were offered a table for 6, and a nearby table for 2 - not really a great solution. She clearly had no idea how to cover adjoining tables to combine them for a group. Shortly after that, a manager walked up and the hostess explained our situation and she quickly responded that there were 3 adjacent booths for 4, and we could have 2 of them immediately. She also offered to buy us dessert as compensation for our wait. We were happy with the solution and took our seats in back to back booths. As it turns out, we had two different waiters for our table, our table was served by Kyle, who was very prompt with drinks, orders, and food. We were really well taken care of. Our companion table wasn't as lucky. To say that their waiter was checked out was an understatement. He would just disappear for extended periods of time. To skip the details, our table had very similar orders, along with a couple of very slow eaters, and we were done with dessert a full 30 minutes before our companions. They even had to flag down another waiter to get their check. Adjacent booths, same kitchen, same menu... They also had some issues with incorrect food orders. It's a great menu and the food was very good as usual. The total service experience was a disaster. The manager and one waiter, Kyle, were well on the way to making us comfortable. The hostess team and the other waiter pretty well destroyed the experience and...
Read moreTHIS Archer's is TOTALLY the anthesis of the one near us in Kettering on Dorothy Lane. When they first opened, we went in and the food was terrible as was the service.. it was like the blind leading the blind which we figured the newness of a restaurant, etc and ironing the wrinkles out. Second time we visited, we were placed in a booth with a window. As we sat and waited for our food, there was a military of ants that were marching in unison right down the unfinished sill and wall to our table. I was thoroughly disgusted but again, made room for errors of the newness of the place. About a year later, we went in and my diet is pretty regimented, fat-wise. I "tried" to special order a salad, minus cheese and whatever else I tend not to like on my salad and asked for some protein on it. The waitress said she couldn't do that. Well, I was a tad short fused as I was a little annoyed that I would have thought the Kettering Archers would have grown out of their "growing pains." The girl was very short with us and we decided to leave and go somewhere that was a little more accommodating. Just last week, some woman was boasting about how great the Centerville Archers was. I said.. "no way.. the one in Kettering right in our proximity is disgusting. With that, she suggested we go. WOW.. just WOW.. from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we walked out after our dinner, the dichotomy of the two restaurants was night and day!! The staff were so courteous, sitting us right away and the service was tops! The food and the healthy choices with a little of my tweaking were fantastic. Tyler, was our waiter both times as we went again, shortly after the first amazing visit. Tyler is a well groomed, informed, mannerly young man whose gift for gab and accommodating, is bar none, fantastic! The hostess was incredibly kind and very welcoming. Congrats Centerville Archers for polishing up the reputation I had in my mind due to the horrible experiences in Kettering. Hard to believe these are owned by the...
Read moreDisappointing in every way.
I ordered a cheeseburger and fries to go. When I locked them up, it was about 9 at night and their website said that they didn't close until 11. Further, the website said that all to-go orders had to be placed online (some Covid restriction). But then when I tried to place my order, the ordering system was shut down and unable to accept orders. So I called. After many rings, someone finally answered and I placed my order. Twenty two minutes later (I was told it would be ready apx 20 minutes), I went inside to get my order. I followed the signs (there was no visible hostess) to get my order at the bar. The bartender was distracted by one man at the bar and took several minutes to acknowledge my existence, where upon she got someone else to help me, who directed me over to this separate area. I got my food and left.
A short while later, I sat down to eat and the disappointment and annoyance increased infinitely. My fries were all undercooked. I understand that often when getting to-go orders, fries get soggy during the journey back home but these were soggy and undercooked.
Even more upsetting, my burger was dramatically UNDERCOOKED. It was very pink in the middle right up to the edges. The menu says nothing about the cook on the burger and the person who took my order never asked me how I wanted my burger cooked, so I'm left to assume that they simply didn't care to make my food properly.
So despite the convenience and close proximity to home, I absolutely will not be ordering from here again and I do NOT recommend. A shame because the price was reasonable ($15 for mushroom swiss cheeseburger and fries) and close to home but just not a good experience and in the end, a waste of money since my food was...
