I’m a baker so I normally don’t go to bakeries with high expectations. I went to the Cerritos store to try their senoritas because that’s what they are popular for. These were ok, just a tad better than the ones from the bakery across the street. That’s about it. Service was slow, so be prepared to wait. The store is small, so be prepared to wait outside the store. There was a young person manning the cash register and, I guess, putting the orders together. He was neither welcoming nor rude, but obviously just getting his job done. I asked whether their mochinuts were dairy-free and he replied that he did not know and that they came from Anaheim. At $3.50 (3 for $10) they were smaller, more expensive, and inferior to those from the Mochinut stores. I bought three and they were stacked in a plastic container so the frosting on these got on each other. Not recommended if you are planning to share, as these would look unappealing once you separate them. Btw, be prepared to see the Tip screen 🙄 when paying. (I tip well for services that deserve tips but I see no reason for this store to have this screen. What extra service is being provided outside of ringing up your purchase and handing you the items? 🤷♀️) I’ll probably visit again after a while. I’m giving them the benefit of learning as they just recently opened. I’ll revisit the review after my next visit. In the meantime, I’ll be getting senoritas from across the street where they know what goes into...
Read moreStarbread Bakery has finally planted it's flag in Cerritos.
Senorita bread is Starbread's bread & butter (literally & figuratively), and I have enjoyed them from other locations. While not overly enthused over them as others may be, the reason for my inaugural visit to Starbread Bakery in Cerritos was for their 50% off donuts, mochi donuts & malasadas End of Day Special (6pm-close)-
Ube creme malasada- A little too much dough, the creme filling was sweet & pleasing. If I could've had it warmed up, it would've been better.
Mochi donuts- I've only had mochi donuts once before, that being at Dot & Dough, and I highly enjoyed the crunchy shell & interior chew. These, however, tasted of regular donuts, just shaped as mochi donuts. The icing was rich on both the chocolate & coffee mochi donuts, though.
Service was good. Starbread Bakery is a small to-go shop. There are a plethora of bagged senorita bread in various flavors. Parking is located at the Seafood City shopping center, with Starbread Bakery located adjacent to Valerio's & Goldilocks.
Maybe if purchased the malasada & mochi donuts when fresh, I would've held a more higher opinion, but I was a tad disappointed with what I bought, more so w/ the mochi donuts. Expecting that crunchy exterior and al dente mouth chew, I experienced what I'd get with a typical chocolate bar. I'm glad I took advantage of the 50% promo, but I only see myself coming back...
Read moreI came here not knowing what to order or what to expect but I was curious about their "señorita bread" that was announced everywhere. So...I ordered a 5pc! I also ordered some malasadas, and some other bread. When I get to my car, I immediately tried the señorita bread which was nice and warm (that was pleasant) and OMG it was to die for! I am definitely going back and ordering a box of like 50! Haha
The malasadas were ok...they need more filling and they're better when you warm them up.
Service was ....just ok. The woman at the register was pleasant but the language barrier really hinders the service and sale. She could have sold me more as I was asking what else she recommended...but ir was obvious she didn't understand me. ;( but it's okay I will still go back.
Hands down..their señorita...
