let me start by saying I've been getting food from here since 2022, i just have always had it delivered to me through UE; yesterday I decided to go up there and get it myself instead to avoid UE price gouging and I'm glad I did bc i will literally never order or eat from here again. firstly, the smell of the place was horrendous it literally smelled so bad I could not believe it; on top of that it was not clean at all, the restaurant was dirty. I was going to leave, but I had already driven like 45 minutes to get there so i decided to eat it for the last time, but yeah the smell is so potent and strong and smells so bad as soon as you walk in and stays the whole time you're inside. the menus were extremely dirty; im a germaphobe so i didnt want to even touch them, there was like year old banana pudding that had turned watery brown in the fridge, the whole place was just literally so unclean, and i saw a paper with a health dep rating of 92 on the wall; there's no way that's accurate. on top of that, i got my usual order but decided to try some chicken as well just bc again I drove all the way up there so i was going to share it with some friends, the chicken was huge, dry, and burnt. i decided to return it to him before i left, and instead of refunding my card he handed me $12, i asked was it $12 instead of just looking at my phone bc i wanted to leave that badly and he said yes and i left. after checking my card it was $13 but i was already gone; obviously $1 isnt a big deal, but it's the fact that you felt like you needed to scam me out of $1 after i just spent $40 like ??? (he originally brought out $13, then put $1back)
all in all this place seems to have gone down a lot over the years like a lot of businesses, prices are higher, at least on UE, quality is lower, portion size is DEFINITELY smaller (the to-go containers are literally half of the size that they used to be) and i cannot and will not bring myself to ever eat there again after smelling that and seeing the conditions of...
Read moreAlif Cafe is a fast-casual restaurant serving made-to-order, delicious Halal and Bangladeshi cuisine. The restaurant is tucked in the corner of the Aloha shopping center (near Buford Hwy and Dresden Dr. intersection) and is easy to miss. The parking lot is small and a bit confusing. Once inside, the restaurant is cozy, simply-furnished and unassuming. The meal is actually served on paper and plastic plates.
I ordered the Capli Kasas, Chicken Samosa, Mix (Gyro and Shawarma) Biryani, and Mango Lassi. My meal came out within an appropriate timeframe and I received good service.
The Capli Kasas are delicious, breaded chicken patties. The breading, seasoning, spice were on point and I loved the chili sauce and cucumber yogurt sauce that accompanied it.
The chicken samosa was also a highlight. The filling was very flavorful.
The biryani was a combination of lamb and chicken. There is a vertical rotisserie in the kitchen with lamb roasting, so I knew the lamb would be delicious. The chicken was not as flavorful. Make sure to ask for extra hot sauce if you like heat. The portion size is large, and I am looking forward to the leftovers!
The Mango Lassi was a refreshing way to end a comforting spicy meal. I will definitely return to try the other dishes, especially the...

I’ve had plenty of Desi food, however it’s typically Indian or Himalayan. Once in a while Pakastani. This may be my first visit to an authentic Bangladeshi restaurant outside of Dhaka.
The BBQ goat, goat biryani, samosa and were the best I ever had of any Desi food.
The goat being BBQ’d has a crispiness to it and a seasoning that enhanced and not drowned the natural flavor of the fresh meat. The biriyani is made so it’s cooked with the meat for many hours, absorbing all the juices - the spices were both familiar and truly unique, a flavor you don’t get at Himalayan or Indian restaurants. The Halim was terrific and spicy, I could eat the whole pot.
The Samosas were crispy and flaky, the best texture I’ve ever tasted in a Samosa. The oil it was fried in was light and clean, unlike the heavy thick and well-used tasting oil I’m used to from some Indian restaurants.
Indian food in general is my favorite type of cuisine, but after eating at Al-Amin and having home cooked Bangladeshi food with friends during my trip, I’ve ...
