Krispy Krunchy Chicken — Restaurant in Champaign

It's not really noticeable as you drive by and it's off campus in a small strip mall with the worst parking, but this hidden gem is THE BEST CHICKEN I'VE EVER HAD IN TOWN. It's not fancy like Watson's but when your wallet is tight and you crave fried food, comfort food, and some out of this world biscuits, KKC hits the spot incredibly well. The staff are so friendly - I've been there three times so far but the guy at the counter always knows what I want and is so friendly.

Shout out to the biscuits. They're so amazing and soft and sweet and fluffy. It seems if you go early enough, there's a blueberry version too (they go fast though!). I could live off the biscuits - they're just so delicious. Everything is made fresh and what you see up front is what they have, so once they're out of everything for the day, they close up before 9pm (ex. I've seen them closed at 8:30). Their open hours are pretty consistent but it seems this is why they have an irregularity here and there.

GrubHub delivers for them, which is great. Their portions are also very generous and the prices quite low too. It beats JJ's, Popeyes, and KFC by far for the food quality,...

This is the absolute best chicken in at least a 60 mile radius of Champaign, IL. The new owners have really brought the quality. The strips are big, the flavor is bigger. This is fantastic Cajun chicken. Not that fake Cajun where they just douse it in pepper and burn it. This actually has a well blended flavorful seasoning that honestly beats the Colonel's 11, these guys must be using 14 or something. Their bone in chicken will have you questioning your existence in this world without Krispy Krunchy in your life. Their Fries are truly freedom fries, freedom from the bland fires you get everywhere else. And their honey mustard, honey please, if they sold this by the bottle I would liquidate my 401k and invest in honey mustard futures. From the outside, you wouldn't imagine it, but this place has probably the best chicken in town.

The parking is kind of weird. I'm not sure if you are supposed to park in front or on the side, but I have done both, and it seems to have worked? This is not to mention that the building on the outside is just kinda scary. The good news is the inside is quite nice.

Now you might be asking, "This doesn't sound like a 5 star review so far," and I would respond to you that none of that matters in the fact that the chicken is so good. I honestly have only gotten the Cajun tenders because I like them so much, but they are jucey and crispy in all the right ways. The breading tastes delicious, the barbecue complements it well, and it is just a good all around tender.
