I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Thai restaurant that left a mixed impression on my taste buds and wallet. While the food was undeniably delicious, I couldn't help but feel that the prices were on the higher side, especially considering the additional costs for basic items like a fountain drink, which came to a staggering $6.
The standout dish that stole the show was the duck curry. Its fiery spiciness and perfectly balanced coconut flavor were a true delight. The tender duck paired with the aromatic curry sauce created a harmonious explosion of flavors that I thoroughly enjoyed.
On the other hand, the pad sew, a dish I typically prefer to be hot and spicy, fell short of my expectations. While it had a pleasant taste, it lacked the heat I usually look for. I must admit, other Thai places on campus offer spicier pad sew options that I personally prefer.
Although the food was enjoyable, the overall dining experience was dampened by the perceived expense. The high cost of a simple fountain drink caught me off guard and added to the feeling of being overcharged.
In summary, this Thai restaurant offers tantalizing flavors, particularly in their duck curry. However, the prices, including the surprisingly steep charge for a fountain drink, left a less favorable impression. While I found the food to be good, I believe there are more reasonably priced options available...
Read moreStopped here for lunch on the way back to Chicago. Two words: spicy and delicious.
I ordered Basil Spicy Noodles and my friend ordered Green Curry, both with medium spice and shrimp. The egg noodles and all the veggies combined very well in my dish, and the shrimps were pleasantly plump and cooked perfectly. The sauce was so delicious I ate too much! The Green Curry was spectacularly tasting with a delicate sweetness to it. My friend piled on more chiles the waitress provided - he was sweating bullets and loving it!
We ended the meal with Mango Sticky rice. Mango was succulent and ripe, and the rice the perfect level of coconut sweetness. Definitely a must have for dessert.
One con was the price - $49 before tip for a drink, two entrees, and dessert. So a little more expensive than most Thai places. But I will be coming back here if I ever come through Champaign again because the food is spectacular and is more than...
Read moreVery disappointed. We wanted to stop in this tire restaurant on the way across country because of the good reviews. We ordered to go and both ordered vegetarian dishes but 30 minutes on the road we opened our food to find out that we had been served chicken and tofu combined together. I'm not quite sure how I will mistake like that happens but while we were picking up food there was multiple other people that got their orders wrong as well. The food was extremely spicy as well when we asked for medium. So if you're normally used to ordering medium do not order it at this restaurant. When I called to complain they even told me after that they serve their medium a lot spicier than others. Even considering all of the negatives I assumed the food would at least taste good but that was not even the case. I am truly shocked so many people had good things to say about this place. I hope I just caught them...
