First time getting food from them and let me start by saying that the young lady working the counter was OUTSTANDING ... A warm welcome and a big smile ... Most times when you walk in most places mid day , it was like 3pm , you get a lack luster greeting ... Took a few ticks to get my order but no biggie ... The Rib Tips were nice and meaty and the sauce was real good ... The fries were pretty good , could have used a few more , and the baked beans were good but who doesn't put hamburger in their baked beans 🤔 ... Couldn't comment on the slaw cause not a slaw kind of guy ... Will definitely be back because been looking for a good BBQ place here ( and no lil Porky's , Wood n Hog and Black Dog aren't it ) and this might be it ( I'm a Big Johns BBQ in Peoria and a Thelma's in Houston guy , if you know you know , so ) ... As you see I gave the food and atmosphere 4 stars but the place gets an overall 5 stars solely for the friendliness of the young lady at the...
Read moreThis same plate at a restaurant downtown Chicago was $65, not only did I leave with a full rack but I got food to sit down and eat. I read some of the review first before I went but they gave the vibe or either “I’m a competing BBQ spot that use the same copy cut review about brisket” which BTW BRISKET IS NOT BBQ, it’s at best a hot dish.
My ribs here were immaculate. Perfectly sauced, thick cut and evenly smoked.
My French fries matched the size of the meal, enough potato to clear the palette.
Coleslaw was rich and not too creamy and the right amount of vinegar. I needed a bigger portion in my opinion.
Potato Salad was DEVOURED
If you don’t like their beans, imma fight your mama. They were fire.
When I went this restaurant smelled like it was freshly cleaned, the tables were pristine.
THEY HAVE AN ELEVATOR!
I can’t wait for the bar, I can’t wait to bring all my friends. I...
Read moreOk, my peeps. You asked, so my wife and I waited for the smoke to die down and we finally tried Al's BBQ. I gotta tell ya, worth the wait and we'll be back. I'm not a fan of the fries, kinda pasty to me, but wife loved em! I also can't eat cole slaw, but wife said it was ok. The beans to me were extremely great, perfectly cooked, Delicious sauce, and nice and thick like they are supposed to be. Wife was pleased with the rib tips, and I had the 1/3 slab of ribs. That's 4 bones with tons of meat, and probably the best sauce I've eaten ever! Yep, I made a total mess getting in and eating on those! The smoke flavor comes through beautiful, the meat is tender and juicy, and that sauce really makes it all perfect. Ambience inside the old short tower still nice, comfortable, and entertaining. Definitely worth lunch or...
