My family and I have visited Carolina’s four times. The first time, I ordered a medium Beans and Rice and a Chimi. We specifically asked for no cheese on the Beans and Rice and confirmed with the staff that there was no cheese in or on the Chimi. However, when we got home, we found not only cheese on the Beans and Rice, but also that it was the wrong size. To make matters worse, the Chimi had cheese on it too—despite the fact that it’s not supposed to come with cheese.
The second time, I ordered the same items. We told the staff (one of whom seemed half-asleep) “no cheese” on anything, and I even placed a separate order just for myself to ensure this. When the rest of my family placed their orders, the staff asked if it was a separate order, and we confirmed it was—again, to avoid any confusion about the cheese. We checked the bag inside the restaurant just to be safe, and while the Beans and Rice were correct, the Chimi still had cheese. Thankfully, they fixed it on the spot.
The third visit went smoothly, with everything prepared correctly.
Last night, however, we were disappointed once again. I ordered the same items, and my dad ordered an Enchilada Style dish. When we checked the bag, the Beans and Rice had cheese on it again. We decided to let it slide and scrape it off at home. Once we got home, though, we realized that my dad’s dish wasn’t even prepared Enchilada Style, despite us paying around $2 extra for it.
It’s unbelievable how often they’ve gotten our order wrong. I’m not too surprised, though, since the employees often seem more focused on chatting with each other than on their work. While talking is fine, it should never come at the expense of doing your job. Overall, very...
Read moreI’ll admit, the anticipation for this place to open was almost unbearable! I’ve been a loyal fan of Carolina’s for years, making the 20-mile pilgrimage to the original Phoenix location on Mohave just to get my hands on their legendary burritos. So, when I found out this new spot was opening minutes from my home, I was beyond thrilled!
Since they opened in February, I’ve been here three times—and if I’m being honest, I’d eat here every single day if I could. The red chili burrito with cheese? Absolute perfection, bursting with rich, mouthwatering flavor in every bite. It’s the kind of burrito that makes you close your eyes and savor every second. My second visit, I tried the machaca burrito, and wow—it was phenomenal. Tender, flavorful, and wrapped in that signature homemade tortilla that sets Carolina’s apart. On my third visit, we went for tacos, and let me tell you—my kids, who are usually picky eaters, devoured both the beef and chicken tacos so fast they immediately begged to come back for more. That never happens!
The service? Excellent. The food? Unmatched. The convenience of having a drive-thru? Game-changer! I honestly don’t understand the negative reviews. No parking? There’s plenty! Small burritos? They are perfectly sized. Bad service? Everyone we encountered was polite and attentive, bringing our food out fresh and hot.
I HIGHLY recommend this place—no, I insist you try it! It absolutely blows every other local restaurant out of the water. If you’re craving the best Mexican food around, look no further. Carolina’s has officially raised the bar, and I’m beyond grateful to have them so...
Read moreI have enjoyed Carolina's, at the original location since the 1980's. Today I tried Carolina's Chandler and was expecting the same great tastes. Sorry to say, this was likely the very worst Mexican food I have ever attempted to eat. First I ordered chicken tacos, rice and beans. They served me beef tacos. And it was way over cooked, yet still full of grease and salt. And other than grease and salt, had no flavor. Next, the rice looked good but again, no flavor, none. Finally the refried beans. They had flavor but I don't know what it was, but it wasn't good. Oh the massive mound of lettuce on top of everything was wilted and bitter. The sauce that Carolinas is famous for? Again disappointing and bland. What the heck happened? I asked my wife how her food was and she agreed that we have never had food this bad, anywhere. Finally, I called the phone number on the receipt to let the manager know how terrible the food was. All I got was an unintelligible recorded message with loud Mexican music playing in the background. I will...
