I have been passing by this new addition to the neighborhood and, knowing after summer cleaning, I didn't want to cook as well. That instigated me to finally take the chance on a new burger and I am now sitting sad and still hungry after my pick up. I ordered the hatch green chile burger combo which is not listed online but on their menu board at location.
The place is easy enough to get to and the staff seemed very nice (I did drive thru), so that got them star #1. Star #2 comes from the fried zucchini that I substituted for the fries in my combo.
They lost the other three because:
Thankfully, the root beer is as delicious as it should be so the sweet brown sugary liquid has erased that taste from my mouth.
End result, would go back totally for the fried zucchini but maybe make my own ranch dip. Also, I would try dessert or maybe a hot dog, but this burger has made me not want anyone's...
Read moreI've eaten here several times with friends. If you like quiet 50s music and decor, a good burger, milkshake, float or cone then it is one of the best values around and delicious. Gluten free buns are also available. If I could make a recommendation to the owner, I'd suggest stocking malt vinegar and a better tartar sauce. The beer battered fish is quite good but these items are needed.
EDIT: One star loss, here is why - After recommending it to my friends, they requested a gluten free bun sandwhich to the order-taker. We paid and waited. After a significant delay, the sandwiches for our table were ready and not one was marked as gluten free (though strangely one was marked "American"). When asked about this, they stated neither was GF, and offered a replacement, then bringing a toasted GF bun, but no replacement sandwich. Since gluten causes contamination issues with some people, this is the wrong response. As a minimum, they should ask if this is ok, but did not. Finally, on presenting just the bun, we explained they need to replace the sandwich. Rather than leaving the previous sandwich which we asked to be GF, they insisted "we can't give away free food". They were going to take it back into the kitchen (before providing the replacement) but instead settled on wasting it by putting it into the trash. I'm reasonably certain my friends won't be returning thanks to this experience. The correct actions I would recommend: Training - ensure people understand which is GF and which is not, and to mark the order as such. If a mistake is made, take the blame. Offer a replacement bun or sandwich whatever is preferred by the customer (probably a good idea to explain a whole sandwhich takes a bit longer but is an option). Don't take rejected food back to the kitchen (pretty sure this violates food safety), and don't force wasting of food. I should also add that I think our food was also made in the wrong order such that others who ordered after us got theirs first (as mentioned in other negative reviews) so you may wish to check on this as well. This also goes for other food requests. People have allergies, and preferences, and making mistakes like this can be very costly when things go wrong. I...
Read moreDO NOT EAT HERE!!! To go or drive thru should be fine but DO NOT EAT HERE!!! If I could give negative stars, I would... First off, I noticed when walking up to the restaurant, the entry mats were rolled up and placed on the garbage can next to the door, restricting access to only one door. Weird but whatever. Then I saw all the booth tables pulled out to the middle, for what reason we'd later find out... Next, the girl at the cash register was cordial but not super excited to serve us which is fine, who cares. The annoying part was when my fiancé gave her $40.28 on a $24.18 bill. "It's only $0.18," she said. "I kno," my fiancé responded, "I was looking to get back a dime..." Rather than inputting the amount given into the register, she attempts to do the math in her head and lets us stand there waiting. Upon seeing our impatience, she pulls out her phone and starts trying to do it on her calculator. "$16.10," my fiancé says a little peeved at this point. The cashier keeps going on her phone, gets change from another register and comes back with, "$16.10 is your change, thank you." Food is ready, they call our number, we pick it up and sit down at the bar top to eat since something is going on with all the booths obviously. At that point, a guy comes out and starts sweeping. Ok, that explains it. All of um at once, no. One by one. So why couldn't we sit at one of the other ones? Why pull all the tables when there's still customers coming in? Either way, it was shortly after that when we were forced to leave. The guy comes out with a mop and the place instantly fills with Clorox fumes. It was overwhelming and hard to eat at that point. Smell affects taste, as everyone knows and it was then that my fiancé stopped eating and covering her nose. It was getting to me too and I'm a mechanic, I'm used to smells of fumes. I asked for a to go bag, we packed up our food and left. Keep in mind, it was 8:30pm!!! Their website says they close at 11pm and the outside of the restaurant may have said 10pm, but either way that was uncalled for and somewhat disrespectful. The only good thing I have to say, is that the food was good. Same as I've had at other Lenny's...
