Edit: so in the az foodie groups, no one has anything good to say about this place. And now the restaurant is shaking its own review page with fake postive reviews. You can't trust a restaurant like this sadly. Also many said it's over priced here. Check the goodies groups on social media, they'll give you better recommendations on where to go. Careful with the fake postive reviews here too. I'm not sure what to say. So this turned into a long review. Sorry. Just the interaction really set me off and caught me off guard.
The guy that waited on us, he needs not to make assumptions about people. We went in here after I had dental surgery. I just wanted the broth. I've been eating pho since 2005. My mom was with me and is still new to eating pho. Usually, she won't order it. Before we went in, she told me she didn't want anything. As I was ordering, she decided she wanted some. Ok, that's good. But the guy was going to order her the combo. She won't eat that. She's 80 and some what of a picky eatter. We ordered 2 Thai tea, and I helped her mix hers. She wanted mine because she liked how mine was mixed. If my mom asks for my food, I give it to her.
When our food was brought over to us, the guy leaned over and whispered something rude in my ear. I only heard part of it because I was on pain meds. I did hear him say I need to be nicer to my mom. Sir, you really shouldn't assume like that about others. How awful. I was nothing but kind to you. We even left you a $11 tip on a to go order. I gave my mom my money because I was on pain meds. But I paid you.
I spoil my mother than most kids. At my husband and I wedding in italy, we spent more on her place to stay than for our wedding. I've put her as a priory my whole life. She's very much spoiled. She gets massages and facials every month or when she wants it. If she wants something, I buy it for her. There's no way you would know that. But I wasn't rude to her about changing her order from the combo you were assuming to order for her and didn't even ask her. She didn't want food when we first walk in. Also she's the type to change her mind on food. You wouldn't know that. But you made assumptions. When we actually go out to eat, I'll always order an extra meal for my mom to take to go. Because she'll change her mind on what she wants. She's always been this way. Can't expect others to know this, but you shouldn't have been so rude to me about my own mother.
Maybe you see others mean to their parents. I definitely see kids now a days that are horrible. But not everyone is like that. Some of us are actually nice. After we left the restaurant I took her over the 99 ranch and got her pastries. Even if I go out to Eat and I'm in the usa, I always bring her back something. Every time I go out I bring her something if she didn't go with me. And even if she didn't ask. So its rude you said I was rude to my mom. Very hurtful. Uncalled for.
The food was very good. Loved the broth. I'm really unsure about the weird interaction behavior of the guy that waited on us.
Also we only wanted 1 pho meal. He put in an order for 2. Because he didn't listen. My mom usually shares my food or will order kids meals. She even said she just wanted to share mine. So it was changed from just ordering broth to a full pho. Only 1.
You got a good sale out of us today. We won't be back. Will share this experience in a few foodie groups too.
Thank goodness there's many pho places in az. Learn not to judge and assume if you don't know the...
Read moreFrom outside the establishment, I knew that Cyclo was no normal Vietnamese restaurant. It looked much better than any other place I have gone to, and usually, that means: bad food. I hoped that I was wrong. When my family entered the restaurant, I noticed that everyone there was American, or Chinese-American. The only Vietnamese-American people there, were the owners/servers. The owner (?) / waitress did not greet us, and simply asked us in Vietnamese, how many people. She pushed two tables together, seated us, and left promptly. I did my observations, and I noticed that although she would talk to us, she would do little jigs, converse warmly and visit every other table in the establishment, but not ours. The prices were ridiculous for the portions. We all ordered Pho and although the presentation of the food (ours and others) were to be expectedly clean, the taste was disappointing. There was not even the slightest essence of Pho. It tasted like water and the broth was so lukewarm, the beef in my bowl remained raw. I felt that the only authentic-tasting Vietnamese food we had there, was the fresh dish of limes, sprouts and greens. My table was ignored by the waitress the whole night. We didn't even get water until after we tried to finish our Pho.
People can continue to go here and think that they are eating authentic Vietnamese food. I can assure you that you're only paying for food that doesn't taste bad (to inexperienced Americans), nice food presentation, and pretty lights to look at. Caucasians should definitely go, they will NOT be discriminated. If you're Vietnamese and don't look rich, then don't bother, you will...
Read moreFirst, let me say, I just moved from Atlanta, GA and I am a huge foodie. I just moved to Arizona and was looking for my new go to Pho place. Well, I think I found it.
I looked this place up online and found some pretty good reviews. I decided to bring my family here to try it with me. One of my family members is more on the vegetarian side.
We decided to try the tofu and shrimp pork rolls, along with the spicy garlic green beans. The rolls were so fresh and big. Rolled perfectly. The green beans cooked fresh and crunchy, with great seasoning and flavor.
Moving on to mains, we each got different pho. The beauty of this place is they have a main pho broth made from beef and a vegan broth made from vegetables. BOTH ARE AMAZING.
My stepdad got the shrimp pho with vegan broth, my mom got the veggie pho with vegan broth and I got the rare steak pho with regular broth. Everything tasted amazing. I have had tons of pho in my life and this was in the top 5 of all time, from Georgia and Arizona.
The owner came out to explain everything to us from the menu. Very friendly and the food came super fast. When we were checking out, he told us back in the kitchen, it was his mom cooking the food... and that he just took over the business 5 months ago.
Overall, I highly recommend this place. It has a great menu, including a very large vegetarian menu. It is supporting small business where they do not use MSG or any chemicals / preservatives. We will...
