Golden Hawaiian BBQ — Restaurant in Chandler

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this place. The girl at the register who has been there for years has always been quite curt and unpleasant. Despite being a loyal customer for around 8 years and enjoying their Teriyaki Chicken, there has consistently been an issue with the lack of Teriyaki Sauce provided with the meals. To compensate, we would request an extra side of sauce with each order, but we were always informed that only one free side was allowed per meal, and a bowl of sauce would cost $2.50 plus tax.

Recently, when I placed a phone order for 3 Teriyaki Bowls and 2 Teriyaki Plates, I asked for 5 sides of Teriyaki Sauce. The girl at the register informed me that I could only have 3 sides for free. I mentioned that I had been previously told I could only get 1 side per meal, but she insisted on the limit of 3. I asked to speak with the manager, but was told that the manager was not available. When I requested to speak with someone in charge, she said I would have to wait for 20 minutes, which I found unacceptable.

Frustrated, I told her to charge me for the extra sauce and that I would leave a review. The owner, who was in the kitchen at the time, overheard the conversation and approached me. I explained the situation, mentioning that I had always been told I could have 1 free side of Teriyaki Sauce per meal, while the girl insisted on the limit of 3. The owner confirmed the girl's stance, leaving me disappointed as I was paying for 5 meals and only wanted a reasonable amount of sauce.

Finally, the owner agreed to provide 2 more sides of sauce, and I thanked him for resolving the issue. During the checkout process, I showed the girl the 10% off coupon on Yelp, which she never seemed to appreciate when I used it in the past. As I paid for my order and was leaving, she rudely shouted, "I hope we never see you come back here again!" I was taken aback by her remark and couldn't believe what I had heard. I responded by saying, "That is very unkind of you. " She insisted that I was not welcome anymore and claimed they had the right to deny service to anyone.

This entire ordeal was quite disheartening, especially over something as simple as Teriyaki Sauce. I have never encountered a place so stingy with their sauce, and it has negatively affected my opinion of the establishment. I have been a loyal customer for over 5 years, ( I had one good review but deleted it due to this experience)never did I have any issues until this cashier/asst manager appeared. This lady is very rude and has an attitude when ordering large amounts of food. My last experience was my last. I had tooken my girlfriend out to eat here once, i ordered two orders of Chicken amd Beef Teriyaki plates to dine in, I opened my plate and I noticed that my Beef teriyaki was full of fat and no Beef. I immediately showed the cashier/asst.manager lady and she told me sorry that's what I ordered, I immediately asked for the manager but she said that I had to wait 20 min for him to maybe show up. The cook in the back heard me and gave me 2 new plates with no fat, the cashier/asst manger told me "you happy now" i asked what did you say and she ignored me and turned around. I didn't return to this establishment for over 9 months. After those months I figured the food got better and the management so I returned. I entered the restaurant and apparently the cashier/asst manager lady was still there and she recognized me. I ordered one Chicken and Beef teriyaki plate for me to dine in and I told her that I haven't been here due to the last bad experience I had. The cashier/asst manager lady told me "if you don't like the food go to Filibertos like your ppl do", I told her she was very unprofessional and that I wanted to speak to the owner, she told me she was the owner and to leave. I told her I would be doing a review on this restaurant and on her. There was 3 other latino couples there waiting for there food and asked for there money and told her she was racist. This establishment had good food but went down and to add insult to injury this Cashier/Asst manager has no customer service skills to include manors. I visited this restaurant due to craving some rice with loco moco. It’s unfortunate that I found just bout every inch of this place dirty and unsanitary. Especially the restroom, it was extremely evident that cleanliness is not a priority in this establishment.

Additionally, one of the dining booths had stains on one of its seats on its side had stains of fluid. The fountain soda machine was missing the grille and had stains in every single one of its soda dispensers.

Immediately next to this soda fountain, was a mini refrigerator with a large amount of dust evident sitting on top of it. The food tasted decent but not great, I could taste the tap water that was used to cook the rice or the meat, not quite sure, but I was not able to finish my food. Furthermore, the tray in which my food was served to me was greasy on the backside, I immediately felt it as I rubbed my fingers together.

Last but not least, the entire establishment smelled TERRIBLE; an overall mix of what can be described between uncleanliness and sewer.
