Si Senor is a restaurant on Alma School and Ray Road in Chandler in the Southwest corner featuring Tex Mex Mexican Cuisine. When you first sit down they give you a basket full of around 20 chips, a small bowl of red salsa, chunky green salsa, refried beans and sour cream dip mixed with jalapenos and milk. It has great Mexican music playing in the background. It is a nice building with red tile floors and authentic wooden chairs with sunflowers painted on the back. My friend and I came at lunch. She's also a Yelp reviewer and I am a Google reviewer. The lunch specials include one drink and sopapilla's for desert and they're mostly priced about $7.95. My friend ordered the chili relleno which comes with rice and beans and I ordered the cheese enchiladas with what was supposed to be a beef taco but I don't eat meat so they made it a bean taco which I wasn't that happy with because I would have rather had a tostada but they would not substitute on the lunch menu. We persistently asked our server to give us more red salsa, since it wasn't even two tablespoons per bowl. It would.maybe serve 5 chips and there were 2 if us who wanted to eat it with chips and also wanted to put the sauce on the food. The server said that they don't like to give a lot of salsa because it goes to waste. The server did not seem to be that fond if us. She was abrupt. When a young handsome 30 year ikd male sat beside us at another table her personality came out. We asked for about 3 more bowls and they were going to charge us, but we said we weren't going to pay so she finally brought us some additional chips and salsa at no extra charge. I ordered a red enchilada but instead they brought me green, so I brought that to the server Valerie's attention and instead of giving me a new fresh red enchilada she just came with the red enchilada sauce and told me to pour it on there which I wasn't too happy with. The food is passable but it's not delicious. It's just your standard Tex Mex but most Americans would love it. Anytime I can eat chips and salsa I enjoy the meal. The portions are very generous and I was happy to know that they do not use lard in their beans. All in all, it was a decent experience even though we had to fight for more salsa every step of the way. The sopapilla were delicious and they give you the whole jar of honey to pour on that. We got the cinnamon ones. All in all you will probably enjoy a nice lunch here with TVs around the a spotlessly...
Read moreThe service was horrible. I came with my 2 kids and first I got a high chair with a broken strap (no big deal), I went to get one with a strap for my 23 month old. There was a cup of ice water that my little one knocked over and we tried to clean up everything we could with the little bit of napkins we had at the table. After waiting forever to get the waitresses attention, we asked for some more napkins to clean the water and she rolled her eyes and left to get us some. She came back with maybe 5 napkins (I was really hoping for a towel), and we cleaned up the rest of the spill. She did not offer more water or anything, I really felt bad as it was and couldn’t wait to get our food and get out of there. After waiting about 40 minutes with no service or checking in with us, we asked if we could get our food to go and she said “yeah but it’s already ready and on plates”. So we waited another 15 minutes, after it was confirmed our food was already on plates. I thought maybe she’s getting it boxed up for us…no…
She brought out the food, on the plates, and with boxes on the side. We put our food in the boxes and then sat around waiting for the check. She never came back with the check so we went to the front counter (also no one was there at the moment). Eventually someone came and checked us out. My boyfriend let them know the service wasn’t good (he was the one who recommended this place), and the lady at the front counter immediately started speaking Spanish to another coworker (not our server). They didn’t have any follow up questions or comments or apologies..
This was my first time here and definitely not a good one. We took the food to a park nearby and ate there. The food was decent though, maybe because I was starving...
Read moreJust ate here. Been looking for a spot since I am new to the AZ area. My sister told me there aren't any real good authentic Mexican Restaurants but I still have to find me a go to spot! So to keep it simple I ordered the chicken tacos. Nothing could go wrong with that? Waitress came out with nachos and the salsas which were really good even if the nachos were basic. But the sauces were really good! A bean sauce dip, a salsa dip, a green chile dip and a white dip that was really good. I was in it like it was no one's business. So naturally I was excited for my main course. Came out very quickly. The plate was hot. Besides fresh sizzling fajitas, I never had a plate that was that hot before. Another thing that had me puzzled was that they did not even offer black beans. The waitress seemed like she didn't even know what black beans were? Anyway, I'm ready to bite into my chicken tacos and when I did I was disappointed. No taste. Very bland. My tastebuds put me on timeout!!! I was like, where is the flavor? This had me thinking that who is cooking this? Seriously, it had the taste of some bland diabetic food. Guess my sister was right? I must say though that the service was very prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was fine. I just couldn't get over the bland taste in the chicken tacos. I will give it another try cause I can't believe a place to me that had it all and by how many people were eating there that the food is that bland. 1 more chance, a different item and then I will decide. Hope it's not a mistake? I would've gave 5 stars. You get 2 STARS because of your service and your nacho dips!! Oh, the sopapilla was really good. No need for the honey as I put in it. Good all...
