Decided to eat here yesterday on our sons last day before he had to go back to San Diego (in the Navy). Everything was fine until we started to order. Let me say the zucchinis and the food is good (that's why that was our 5th time there and the last time we were there according to the manager we spent over $200.00). We ordered the piccata ask for scallops ($35.00) she gave us chicken ($25.00), ask to make sure I wasn't charged for the scallops I was polite about the mistake. Then came the bill. I gave the waitress my debit card with a $50.00 gift card. My bill was $83.76, $30.76 with with gift card. I'll also say that the waitress lied about saying that the gift card didn't have any funds on it, which is what she told her manager and what he told us. That's where I had to get the manager involved. Granted she never gave us back the gift card that we gave her. Fifteen minutes later the manager comes out with a stack of other gift cards and said he had to go through the stack to find the one that we used. Finally he comes out with the one he said we used and tells us it didn't have any funds and tell us that the waitress told us that the card didn't have any funds in it, if that was the case then why didn't she give us back the gift card? Is it your protocall to keep the the empty card or give it back to the customer? The manager wasn't any help at all to try to resolve the issue. We left feeling like we were trying to take advantage of the place and the manager just wanted us out of there because they were very busy. By the way, we had three other gift cards ($150.00) that we could have used but I was already upset at this point and left. No more eating there any more. All this would have been averted if the waitress would have just told us that the card didn't have any funds and given it back to us and we would have just given her another one and not lie about it. Lesson learned, scan all gift card to make sure there are still funds on the...
Read moreWe enjoy dining out at many great restaurants. This one is good and we like coming here occasionally for the brunch on Sundays and happy hour during the week. We rarely sign up for so-called loyalty programs as they can sometimes be more trouble than they are worth. This being a prime example. Worst loyalty program ever due to the fact that it is difficult for everyone to use including the servers and managers! On the rare occasion we even ask about it it's because we'll notice (after our card has been run) that we supposedly have points we could use. Ok so it apparently is not automatic (when you use the card you signed up with) as we have been told. We are never quite sure how it works and neither are the employees who work here. When we do ask the server they seem annoyed, if it is the manager they tell us it is either supposed to be automatic or the servers all are supposed to ask if we want to use points (but never do). One manager, a lady told us "Well we don't have to do this but offer it as a small perk as a thank you to regulars ". Really?? It is not much of a perk if it is so much trouble to use! Which it always is at Stone & Vine. No one including managers are happy to help with it or want to deal with it at all. In contrast the one other loyalty program we have signed up for at Rigatony's Italian Restaurant is always easy and uncomplicated. The servers always ask if you want to use your points or save them for next time, easy to track points on your phone and no one ever has any difficulty with it whatsoever. Not sure what the issue is at Stone & Vine and the employees don't seem to know either. So our advice is don't bother with this useless and otherwise aggravating 'perk'. Just go and enjoy the food and atmosphere for the things you like and forget about this program as it is definitely not worth the hassle. We can't image why they even bother with it...
Read moreWent there for lunch. We did a pick up, so I have no comments about the service. The food... well it had generous portions BUT lunch items we had were tasteless. Mind you, this review is limited to these items.
We ordered two bruschetta, one had the red bell peppers and traditional. The red bell peppers were bland and the tomatoes on the traditional were not ripe. Both needed more seasoning. Not a good showing for the bruschetta.
Next up was that parmigiana and crispy chicken panini, both of them were HUGE. Like bravo, that is an amazing portion size. The problem is that the the breading had absolutely ZERO flavor. We were in awe, as we peeled pieces off and just tried the breading, nothing, no flavor. I am not sure how they managed that, we could see herbs and spices on it. The avocado, also needed some seasoning. The sandwiches were ordered with fries and a soup. The fries were wedge cut but soggy, not soggy just from being take out and sitting, but they did not have any sign of crisp on them... anywhere. How did they cook it? The minestrone soup was tomato water, that is the best description we could come up with. Just disgusting.
I don't know if it was just a bad day for the kitchen, but holy heck, we have been here for events and my wife for a business lunch and they were good back then. We threw out the soup, threw away half of each sandwich, and ate a few of the fries. The bruschetta we finished off.
I don't want to give such a poor review, but we threw away most of the meal because it was just perplexingly bad. May be we give it another try for the entrees, but there is something to be said about putting out tomatoes that are not ripe, who made that soup and thought it was good, and wondering who decided that a little salt and pepper would not help.
I hope others can review them on other items and there is a better showing. We would like to...
