One of Our Go-To Vegan Pizza Spots in the Valley
We’re a vegan family of five in the Phoenix area, and Venezia’s New York Style Pizzeria is one of our top pizza picks for dinner or date night spots in PHX.
This time, we did takeout from the Chandler location, but we’ve also dined in for lunch and dinner and we’ve visited the Tempe location as well.
The Chandler spot is in a small, tucked-away plaza right across from the Drury Hotel, near a couple of other little businesses. There’s a good amount of parking, both indoor and outdoor seating, and they even have high chairs, very family-friendly. The patio is a nice touch if you want to enjoy your pizza outside.
The Tempe location has the same great food and service, but it’s in a University building and parking can be a bit trickier there. Once you find your spot, though, the experience is just as good timely, friendly, and accommodating staff every time.
We love that they have a dedicated vegan/dairy-free menu, it’s not something you see everywhere.
Our go-to is the Veggie Delight on a party-size thin crust, cut into squares, with vegan sausage, vegan pepperoni, black olives, mushrooms, and green peppers l, all topped with vegan cheese.
The vegan sausage is crumbled and has a little bit of spice, which we enjoy, but if spice isn’t your thing, you might want to do half-and-half or stick to the cheese and veggie toppings.
They also do a New York-style thick crust, and honestly, of all the places we’ve tried, they nail the New York flavor and texture better than most in the Valley.
Once again, here’s what we love most: We almost always get a large order the partysize pizza is around $60 with and feeds a lot of people (the extra-large is a little if you don’t need quite as much). We’ll freeze the leftovers for quick meals later in the week.
The vegan baked ziti (that cheesy pasta dish in the little metal pan) is also delicious, and the vegan cheesy breadsticks are another must-try.
We haven’t had the vegan and gluten-free cookies yet, but it’s a huge plus that they even have them along with vegan and gluten-free pizza options.
Venezia’s offers pickup, delivery, and dine-in. We’ve never done delivery ourselves, but we know different services have different fees, so it’s worth checking before you order. If you come in the evening or even at lunch, expect a short wait for the food if you order larger pizzas but they’ll let you know the timing, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful.
They serve Pepsi products, plus an in-house 32-ounce lemonade that’s actually really good. The menu is flexible with size options, 12”, 14”, 16”, and 24” pizzas so you can order for just yourself or for a crowd.
If you’re a vegan in the Valley (or just want good New York-style pizza), it’s worth stopping by.
No website, but you can call in and place your order for pickup.
And if you’re like us and want extra flavor, get a little side of sauce for dipping, makes it even better. God...
Read moreWell, I'm super disappointed. I've eaten at the location in Gilbert probably 20 times and while the food is generally really good, I think they've messed up maybe 15 out of 20 orders. With that in mind, I was excited they were opening a new location in Chandler. Went there tonight and the lady said the order was ready right in time as I walked in. Unfortunately 2 of the 4 items I ordered the folks in the ba k didn't get the ticket. She said they would make it right away and it should only be 5 minutes. They did get them done in about 10 minutes but unfortunately the zucchini is almost inedible as they were way overcooked. Unfortunately I didn't check the food until we got home. To their credit, the young lady that was helping me was cordial and mildly apologetic. I thought about asking to speak with someone from management but I was quite frustrated and realized that it wasn't just about this experience but all the previous ones at another location which wouldn't be OK so there is a lengthy review instead. Again, the food is almost always good. The pizza is a good thinish crust and the calzones are hearty. I'll give them another go at some point at this new location and we'll see. All of the above aside, this location is clean, well lit, tv's had the games in, is more organized than the other location, and with generally friendly and...
Read moreI normally order from the Tempe location, which is always excellent. Because I live in Chandler I went to this location yesterday. I ordered a small pizza with cheese, ground beef, crumbled sausage, onions and mushrooms. This was a pick up. Gentleman was polite, but when I opened the box again myself at the counter I had to ask, where is the toppings? All I see is meatballs. Employee then put his finger to my pizza saying is under there, I said where. He brought another employee over and the employee also put his finger very close to touching and pointed it's in there. Again I said where. I didn't feel like arguing my point so I replied, "you know, it doesn't hurt to try something ONE time, and I said I have never received a pizza like this from Venezia's. The employee says do you want me to make it over. I asked, will it look the same? He said yes. I then replied, them what's the use. Will never go back there. There were specs of mushrooms in some places, skinny slivers of onion only in some places. Don't know where the ground beef was or crumbled sausage because there was only 1 meat in the form of little meatballs that could be identified. The cheese was very scarce, hardly any pizza sauce, crust at bottom I had to cut it like it was...
