Vietnamese Noodle1 House — Restaurant in Channelview

I love pho. This was the first time I've been here. From hearing the good reviewers I thought why not. The pho was very sub par. There are cheaper and better places downtown. It didn't bother me much. So I ordered the chicken and rice next. (also you need to pay first then they'll bring the food out) the food was very old. I'm a cook so I know. The chicken was at least a week old and they kept on reheating it up in a microwave. It had lost all of its mostiure and taste. The outside had a thick layer of crust from being microwaved to many times. I was very disappointment. I politely asked if they could switch it out with anything else she said and I quote, "that is how it is." If you treat your customers like this do not expect returning ones. I thought I found a local place unfortunately they lost me and my friends coming here after class. I have attached a picture of the chicken. You can see the dryness. The rice was good though. Not a child friendly restaurant. I brought my children here, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. My daughter was sitting quietly next to me and wiping some spilled drops of water she had accidentally spilled. This lady came up to our table and sternly told her no and some other things in Vietnamese. I was left a little confused as to what she could have possibly be doing wrong as she was just sitting there quietly. I asked someone else what the problem was and they said that the children shouldn’t be playing with their chopsticks (which my children were NOT playing with). I decided to leave then as to what type of restaurant puts out chopsticks on their table but then gets mad if you intend to use them. Plus the lady who told us that had a very unfriendly attitude since we arrived. Will not be returning, didn’t even get to taste the food. The food was terrible..... we ordered a vermicelli bowl with beef; the beef was nothing but extra greasy gristle..... with EXTRA grease. The elderly lady server comes at you scowling with an aire of contempt, even after making the best effort to greet her with a smile and thanking her in the friendliest tone I could muster. (We thought perhaps there was simply a language barrier and she didn't understand us, but we later heard her speaking in English to some other customers. The ambience itself was also not too pleasant. The table was dirty and looked as though it hadn't been wiped down all week. The floors hadn't been swept and there was debris and food particles throughout. It kind of felt like we were at a rundown 24 hour laundromat in a very unsavory, high-crime part of town.
