Not only is this a horrible place to work , this is also a horrible place to dine. I was a server there and my tables would wait practically 45 minutes to get their food with no regard by the owner Summer about their concerns. Yet when the influencers she paid to come to take pictures and leave good reviews came, she bumped their ticket and immediately brought out their food. While the poor customers who have been waiting much longer waited to get their food, that was just sitting in the window with parts of their meal unfinished . Multiple times she would force me to run food to other tables that weren’t mine, while the guest I was supposed to serve were unfortunately waiting for theirs for longer than they should. This force them to walk out and I completely understood because that’s a horrible way to treat guest that come to your own restaurant. Or the horrible times where I had to apologize to guest for finding hair in their food or their order not being made right which ruined their experience. Though none of this was my fault, I’m the only face they saw (even though they didn’t blame me) there was no one else to express their frustrations to. Once I had been doing my own section and another one on top of that, because no one else would take them and I couldn’t stand to see the guests mistreated. I became overwhelmed doing the work of two people, so when I asked her if she could get another server to help me with one of the tables, her response to me was “that’s what happens when other people call out. As if it was my responsibility to pick up other people’s slack or my fault someone called out that day. She is very rude to not only her workers but also her upset customers who express their frustrations about the horrible service and she would either purposely not talk to them or if she did talk to them she was always nonchalant and rude. Food was always sitting in the window for far too long because we were ALWAYS understaffed. We were always running out of the things the cooks needed to make the food and when the customers became upset that they ordered something they couldn’t get, she would yell at us telling us she told us the day before to “86” it . Even though most of us was not present the day before and the ones who were, testified she did not tell them anything. She let certain servers play manager and relay messages for her instead of speaking to you directly even though she never actually hired a manager . I was the ONLY black server there and got treated poorly compared to all the other white servers. The only pleasure was serving the nice guests that came in . I’m so glad I no longer have to deal with this...
Read moreLet's start with the good. The atmosphere here is so nice and cozy, but can get pretty loud even with few people inside, but that may just be an issue with the acoustics. I visited around 1pm, and was seated immediately. All of the staff members that I met were kind and helpful, so no issues there. After a few minutes, I ordered a hangover hash and decided to check out these reviews while I waited.
It needs to be said that this location definitely seems like the "mimosa brunch" kind of place, which is fine, that's absolutely fair. But that means that someone like myself, who went in alone to just try out a new place, will notice every second that I have to spend waiting on my meal. At around 1:35, a waitress came out with the biscuit that came with my meal, saying that the hash would be just a few more minutes. The biscuit was a bit undercooked, but I like my biscuits that way, so I really can't complain.
About ten minutes later, my waiter comes back, clears my table of the biscuit plate, and leaves my check. I was confused at first, but I also know of other restaurants that get your check to you pretty much as soon as you order. Five minutes later, he comes back and asks if he can process the check, since they'll be closing in about 10 minutes (2:00pm). I let him know that I hadn't received my hash yet, and he quickly runs to the back to make sure the issue is solved. Right before 2:00 comes, I finally get my meal, and it was honestly delicious.
Based on what I've seen other people say, it seems like the restaurant is struggling with their management. A bad waiter here or there is one thing, but it doesn't seem like my experience was a wholly unique one. I want this restaurant to have better staff, because I can tell that there's something good here, but I would avoid it until they can get it together. It's hard for me to say where the fault lies, but the food is genuinely good if you can get...
Read moreI was out with my two sons on the way to McDonalds and saw the Flying Biscuit. We decided to try it out. The place looked neat and clean. The Flying Biscuit wasn't busy. We were seated and our beverages were delivered promptly. Each of my boys ordered a "Mr. Big" and I ordered a "Wake Up Burger" which is pretty much a "Mr. Big" with an Egg on top. Now the down side side, it took us about 45 minutes to get our food. When asked for the temperature, we all asked for "medium" but the burgers all came out "well". (The burgers tasted good, but why ask the temperature at all?) My burger came out without the egg on it. The waitress was no where to be found so I began eating my burger without the egg that I paid ~$1.50 more for. Halfway through the burger, someone from the grill delivered me a cold scrambled egg that apparently they forgot to put on my burger.
Now for the Beverages: I ordered a black coffee which was simple pour over cheap stuff. It was bitter and tasted like it had been sitting on the burner for quite some time. Definitely not fresh. I was surprised to find out that the coffee was $4.50. My boys ordered fountain drinks that were $3.50 each.
Pros: clean, plenty of parking, lots of available seating.
Cons: slow grill, pricey for the quality of food you get, expensive drinks. My total bill was over $60 for three people and I wish I would have went to McDonald's. The coffee would have been good and the microwaved egg would have at least been warm.
Recommendation: Last week I took my wife to the Waffle House on Main Road. We had fresh coffee that was much better, a full breakfast that was hot and delivered within 5 minutes, and exceptional service for half the cost per person. Skip the Flying Biscuit, it's simply not paying higher prices for...
