Continuing my post divorce bar review series, I decided to try out the ROQ. It is located in the basement of the Quarrier Street diner. The previous place was called Timothys, where I took my ex-wife for our second date where she would tell me she definitely didn’t want kids and then do an absolute 180 three years later. The first thing I noticed as I walked through the door were the lights. They reminded me of my bachelor party in Vegas where I would obey my then-wife’s wishes to not look at another woman, and meanwhile she’s spending half of her dowry in the champagne room at the strip club back home. The second thing I noticed was how attractive everybody was. I’m naturally uncomfortable around attractive people, likely because of a condition my ex-wife would commonly refer to as “fugly”.
