Such potential! If our local government would support our local downtown and historic communities. It's sad because the people that keep these degradated properties in these areas are the SLUM LORDS THAT ARE CURRENTLY SERVING OR PAST MEMBERS OF OUR OWN LEGISLATURE AND SENATE that supposedly fight to have fair and equal housing for all. They own these rundown tenantments, and you better believe their best friends and partners in crime are some of the most powerful and influential lawyers and some of the most corrupt in our current government. It's past time for wv citizens and leaders to make some serious changes. On that note I would love to have a true historic view of both our new and old Town to enjoy. Our government could use some guidance from other successful historic disctrics and how they keep them that way. For example; old Town San Diego, CA. Very similar when it comes to landscape and available space to work with, it's well done for locals and other's to enjoy the cities heritage and history..of different local artisans. we have a rich heritage, right????? They sell everything from local art to handmade pieces that are made just like our ancestors would have. San Diego's historic marketplace is always located in the same place and they have nearby cafes Trust me, i know this isn't San Diego but it wouldn't hurt to scout and locate othet cities that bring out the best in their town from the cultural and historic side as well as how we are all as a nation changing and adapting to love and accept all of our citizens and their talents. I am ecstatic about the talent that exist under the 64 bridge in downtown Charleston, it's gorgeous, amazing and a perfect example of what I'm attempting to express. I personally would love to share it with the world and i think we are obligated to show the talents wv possess. WV people are willing to help wv succeed in every way possible. Right now besides the severely overpriced Farmers market(i speak mostly of inside) we really don't have much going for us. Making something available every weekend that is ever changing would allow us to grow. Consider under the I-64 interchange in Charleston from may to September. It would be a different artisan party every weekend. This would allow every heritage and artisan to be able to schedule at least one weekend to show and sell us their crafts if not more, i figure some will end up being in higher demand, but everyone will have a chance. Including native American moccasins, totem poles, blankets, just to name a few, we could showcase glass blowing, lumberjacking that creates furniture and statues, lumber Carver's such as handcrafted doors. Upcycled furniture ( not yardsale material), nothing that is yardsale material at all should be taking up space at this historic event. Maybe if the houses around the site choose to yardsale..., well that's their choice. We could sell Amish made goods, fresh food items from gourmet speciality shops around the region that most may not ever get a taste of. These are just all suggestions. I would recommend that everyone be welcome for free but maintain this as a classy showcase and bizarre where items would be priced from low to very high dollar. Depending on the service the customer requests. I wouldn't allow any prefab contractors to be part of this hosting Bazaar (window world, bath fitters), none of that mess. I would rather have general contractors that bring a unique talent or the most up to date technology to change and transform, for example, concrete stampers, drywall stampers (both are amazing if you've ever had the opportunity to see them) technology that can raise levels of roofs without leaving your home literally roofless, new technologies in wireless dog fences and security, just to name a few. Only cutting edge, groundbreaking technology would only be allowed. ...
Read moreIt was late. No place to sleep. My health and tired no ministry open but they have their picks anyway so I met a homeless man and questioned him about homeless, where a place to sleep. No legs in a wheelchair we talked. He was a veteran. He had me park in a safe place. As he slept in his chair and other ppl were laying on black top, I took pictures and joined a lot of them where they would get fed 3x a day. I was glad to know how and why they aren't getting any help and wished I could help. Ministry (A LOT ARE NOT CHRISTIAN) as I've watched and their actions were way worse than any sleeping out in the open and I vow that if I ever get the money, these ppl will get needed necessary help. If I hadn't watched and compared, no one is any different than each other. Ppl say they bum and drink. So does ministry ppl. I couldn't believe my ears the acts of those in ministry how they can reserve their stay like a vacation... Months... Snobs... I was raised biblical and this really bothered me. God bless the Coventry to feed the homeless and treat them HUMAN. I was welcomed and most impressive and comfortable compared to how I was treated at a ministry in NC... A regular FAT MAN STAYING THERE EVERY DAY UNCHRISTIAN PIG FED VERY WELL STEAK, HUGE BREAKFAST AND...
Read moreI went to the library and I do love the new look, the remodel was excellent. I went to check out the Christmas trees and decorations @ City center and Fife street. It is quite lovely and I enjoyed myself very much. I felt a touch of the old Christmas downtown. I stopped at Dr Dough when I saw they made milkshakes. I saw them across the street and as I was wanting a milkshake, I crossed the street and went in. It smells delicious in there and a very lovely young man waited on me. We chatted when he fixed my shake and then gave it to me. I told him I would come back and try some food another day. His kindness and interest in my reaction to his establishment makes me want to go back again. I hope they do very well there. My experience today was very good all...
