Ben & Jerry’s — Restaurant in Charlotte

I’m leaving this review as both a long-time fan and a former employee of Ben & Jerry’s (different location) to share some concerns about new ownership and business practices. I went in with my children today to get a simple kid scoop of ice cream in plain sugar cones, an order we've been able to get as long as I can remember. I was told once ownership changed about a year ago, they no longer offer kid or one scoop sizing. Our only choice was 2 or 3 scoops (medium and large by old sizing standards). Additionally, we were informed that plain sugar cones were no longer available — only chocolate-dipped sugar cones or waffle cones were offered, both at an extra cost. We were told this was also a store policy implemented by new ownership. For two cups of the smallest size available, with no toppings or extras, we paid $17 after tip. This felt unreasonable for what used to be a simple, family-friendly experience — and inconsistent with the values I’ve always associated with Ben & Jerry’s. I always enjoyed going to this place, i have been a client for many many years now, staff is nice, ice cream is delicious, they used to give a plastic tag every year on april that you showed at checkout to get a 10% off on your purchase, they change the way its reward program works by asking you to sign up with your phone to the reward program, all you have to do is provided the phone number at checkout to get the discount, today i took my grandson for a treat and the lady that took my order didn't honor the 10% off, she said that i didn't have any coupon, even though the website say i don't need a coupon, just give the phone number at checkout everytime you shop ( and no, i am not trying to be cheap, i left her a tip)(of course this will not discouraged me from keep going to this location!) This was the worst experience we’ve ever had at Ben and Jerry’s. Last night after dinner we found that there was a Ben and Jerry’s close by. Being from Vermont, we were excited to have something from home. The guy working there was terrible. He kept yelling at everyone where he wanted them to stand. We were all confused and had to tell him to stop. It was insanity. Then he was nasty when people were asking for one scoop or ice cream. They were telling him they would pay the normal price but just to put one scoop in. It was very apparent that he hates his job and treated us all like idiots. My husband had to tell him enough and to just scoop the ice cream. It was a horrible experience and ruined our evening. This guy should not be in the customer service industry.
