I have been wanting to try this place for a while after seeing the great selection of flavors they offer, so I was very excited when I saw they were opening a location closer to me. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down by my experience here.
First off, let me say that the service was great, and they seem to be well-staffed. We came a bit later, so I’m not sure how busy they get in the mornings, but they seemed to be prepared to handle a decent crowd. I’m sure parking would be a headache during a rush, though. It’s squeezed into a tight spot. Everything was bright and seemed clean. And all of the staff we encountered were nice.
As for the bagels, though, I was very disappointed. I decided on the jalapeño cheddar bagel as that is usually a solid option, but it had no flavor. And was served cold, which I found odd. They also do not apply cream cheese, so you just get a plain bagel and a cup of cream cheese (for another $2.25). We had to ask for something to spread it with and were given wooden knives. I can appreciate the choice to avoid excess plastic but think it would serve everyone better to take the extra steps to apply the cream cheese to avoid the need for customer utensils altogether, unless requested to go. That would seem to alleviate the extra use of the containers of cream cheese and lids as well.
It would be nice if they would put some toasters by the coffee bar if they’re going to serve the bagels cold. I really just did not enjoy eating a cold bagel, and I think that ruined it the most for me. Especially when my bagel had no flavor at all. Lowe’s Foods has much better jalapeño cheddar bagels, but unfortunately, they’re not in this area, so the search continues.
I will say, my husband got a cinnamon sugar bagel with cake batter cream cheese (I believe that was the combo), and it was really good. Still cold but a little more fitting for those flavors. The cream cheese was like Dunkaroos icing for my fellow 90s kids. So if you’re in the mood for something sweet, that’s a good option. Just a little much for breakfast for me.
We ended up spending $29 for 2 bagels with cream cheese, half a dozen to go (which I’m hoping will be better toasted but not sure how well they’ll keep since they’re just in a paper bag), a canned drink, and tip. I feel that’s rather steep for bagels. Especially if they’re not making sandwiches or even spreading cream cheese on them. I feel like this isn’t a place you can just pop in to get something to eat. You’ll have to get some to take home to toast later. Hoping the other flavors we took to go will be better. Wish I would’ve tried mine before buying more to go, but it’s usually a solid bet. Oh well. Live and learn.
If the others are better, I’ll come back to add that because I really hate to leave a negative review for a new business. Maybe I’m in the minority about liking my bagels warm. Just seems like an odd...
Read moreBeen following Jeff’s for awhile and was STOKED to hear a new location was opening near me. We finally gave it a try and I must say, it was pretty lackluster and kind of a let down.
We got a poppy, and rosemary salt bagel with veggie as well as chive cream cheese. And a banana bread latte.
Only 2 things are preventing me from giving this 5-stars. They don’t prepare your bagel for you. Which I can forgive. I can think of a few places that don’t prepare your bagel for you - but it would be nice if they did.
You’re unable to get your bagel toasted. They don’t have toasters in house…. What?!? Honestly, that was the deal breaker for us.
Considering you’re paying $5 for a bagel & cream cheese, I’d expect at least one or the other. Prepare or toast. But they don’t offer either.
Now I can understand if the bagels were fresh out the oven, and had a nice crunchy exterior to compensate for the absence of toasted. But they’re not sold that way.
The cream cheese was really good and the bagel it self was fine. Tasted fresh, and had good flavor and seasoning. But it was cold. That, unfortunately, was the focus and took away from everything that could have made this great.
Based off of the flavor, I’d like to be here throughout the week. But the fact that they just slice a cold bagel and throw in the bag is a huge dealbreaker. It would probably be the best bagel spot around if they would offer a toast…could even charge more, I’d be ok with that.
I hate to think this is just a money grab, but the lack of toast and ability to dress our bagel tells me their priority is to crank out as much product as possible rather than focus on the guest experience and what people truly look for. I’m...
Read moreWhat an absolutely fantastic experience at Jeff's Bagel Run's soft opening in Ayrsley today! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was buzzing with positive energy. The employees were incredibly friendly, greeting everyone with smiles, and the service was remarkably efficient, especially for a soft opening – they've clearly got things running smoothly already.
I ordered the Jalapeno Cheddar bagel with chive & onion cream cheese, and it was delicious. The bagel was crisp and chewy on the outside, giving way to a wonderfully fluffy, airy, and light inside. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with a nice kick from the jalapeno and the savory richness of the cheddar, beautifully complemented by the tangy chive & onion cream cheese.
To wash it down, I enjoyed a delicious iced chai latte, which was just the right blend of sweet and spicy.
Jeff's Bagel Run is already a gem, and I can tell this is going to be a new favorite spot. If you're in the area, you absolutely have to check them out! Highly,...
