I love the atmosphere and concept of this place, however a few things held it back from 5 stars.
I had both the pastor and asada tacos, both were well marinated and had a lot of potential but spent a little too much time on the flattop and dried, the steak taco was served with nothing on it, not even cilantro.
The verde salsa was awesome.
The pupusa saved the meal though, even though I checked the box and said everything was fine(my bad), the curtido and sauce were not included. Even WITHOUT all of the toppings to round out the dish, the flavor and texture of the pupusa was fantastic, and I would happily come back just to eat two or three more of those bad boys.
EDIT- I've been back multiple times, and I LOVE the pupusa revueltas, they are amazing, however the store will be closed at random times with no announcements or will not answer the phone for orders. It's upsetting because this place has such a high potential, but i don't understand how they intend to succeed as a business if they only open when they feel like it.
EDIT- 1/25/21 Today marks the FIFTH day that i've called during open hours, with multiple orders to be placed, and AGAIN no answer. This is just frustrating, these are THE BEST pupusas I have ever had, I try to spread their name and go back often, but at this point i'm ready to move on and never look back. I can't believe anyone would have invested into this location and created such good recipes and then just NOT SHOW UP FOR WORK. I'm honestly a little heartbroken, goodbye pupusa revueltas,...
Read moreI’ve eaten at The Casita a few times before and usually enjoyed it, but this last visit was very disappointing. When my husband and I arrived, the woman taking our order seemed visibly bothered by us, even though we were smiling and polite. She actually forgot my arepa completely, and when my husband went to ask for it, she didn’t even acknowledge him.
When the arepa finally came out, it was cold and hard on one side. I politely told her it was cold, and she simply said, “That’s how it is,” which I know isn’t true because in the past my arepas have been hot and fresh. She didn’t offer to warm it up or replace it until after I said, “Thank you, I’ll just write a review.” Only then did she bring me another one — and that one was warm, proving the first one wasn’t served correctly.
I left disappointed because I don’t think customers should have to threaten a review just to get the food prepared properly. The service and attitude really ruined what should have...
Read moreThis place is basically a waste of a great location. The food here is mediocre at best. I've personally tasted better/ more authentic tacos at Sabor Latin Street Grill. I went here with my family and basically ordered one of every item on the menu. Bland is the word used by everyone in my family. The seasonings were bland and the protein tasted like it had been cooked on a dirty grill. I noticed one item was left off of my order and when I went back, receipt in hand to inform the cook/cashier, he basically accused me of lying.. Lying for what? To get another bland item, that we took a bite off and then threw in the garbage anyway? The sad part is, we sat right in front of this stand where he could see us the entire time. I assume he wasnt thrilled that with the fact that we werent enjoying our food and decided to give us a hard time. But anyway, this was a one and...
