As my family and I walked up, we requested take out. The man at the front desk asked the “Manager”, heavyset and dirty blonde hair, the lady looked over, at my family and I, for a few seconds and told the man, “No. Dine-in only.” The Man came to us and apologized and said “ I apologize today we only do Dine-in.” I could already tell by the lady’s stare and body language she was judging based off of my husband’s race, black. She kept looking at my table throughout our experience of eating there, immediately felt uncomfortable…I was ready to leave. Two girls sitting across from us were seated 5 mins after us but received their meals before us. We waited about 15-20 mins for our order. The food wasn’t the best. Street corn was horrible. Corn was old. Load fries was decent, I’ve tried better. She kept waiting other tables around us but not our table. Then we saw a table by us pay cash and receive change back. We decided to pay cash. Another female waiter took our payment but that Manager turned her around when she about passed her. The female waitress came back to our table apologized and said,” We don’t accept cash.” Then I looked over at the Manager, I caught her looking at our table and she looked away. They did not warn us ahead of time, they do not accept cash. I will NEVER come back here with the experience my family and I had there. RoomService is a horrible business with racist and judgmental Managers. Ruined my Mother’s Day. Disappointed we still have people racial profiling people paying for your service. Disrespectful manager and waiters.
After the experience, I messaged the owner, Rachel Hopkins, through instagram and we agreed to meet up in person. Rachel and some other “co-owner” gave us excuses why every event happened. They tried to give us a virtual gift card to their restaurant, which I denied, and then they insisted a virtual gift card for the whole Camp North End. Rachel said to dm her my email, which I did. She read my dm, never received an email back.
I wanted to love this restaurant because the vibe was my style but after the experience, I’m HIGHLY disappointed. Rachel Hopkins, you lost a future customer but gained a 1...
Read moreWe went to Camp North End tonight for the free outdoor movie date night and decided to grab Room Service for dinner before the movie started. We were seated quickly with no wait and got outside seating which was awesome bc the weather was perfect. Our waitress was quick and efficient but alas.. we were brought room temp water. Maybe thats not a big deal to other people.. I understand much of the world drinks room temp water.. but not here and not me. The last thing I want to drink is your room temp toilet water thank you very much, plz bring some ice.
Anyway, I ordered the "classic smash burger" which I feel is kinda being a little overplayed.. or is that just me? Its like smash burgers are having their froyo moment and everyone has one or is adding one to their menu bc its a trending keyword. I was going to order the "southern smash burger" which I found via their online menu before leaving the house but apparently the online menu doesn't match the restaurant menu... bc it wasn't on it. The burger came with a single patty, american cheese, carmelized (grilled) onions, shredded lettuce, something called "party sauce", and house made pickles on a potato bun with a side of fries.
The burger was good, not great, but good. I'm not the biggest fan of a bun that outsizes the burger (meat portion) itself which is what I found here, but every full bite of the burger taste exactly as I imagined it would. The fries were extra crunchy which I absolutely LOVED but they charge you for ranch which I feel like is a sin if you're in the South bc all fries should come with ranch by default.
So between the toilet water, the micro patty, and paying for ranch.. I thought the dinner overall was good. I likely wouldn't have a reason to come back but I'm glad I tried a new place tonight. If you're in the area looking for a quiet place to enjoy a good conversation with good food.. maybe give this place a shot and tell me I'm...
Read moreWhen I found a table for my family, within a few minutes, the waitress told us we had to leave because our kids had ice cream from another station. Understandable… but I then stated “Oh… we’re about to eat here and…” I couldn’t finish before abruptly being cut off with “umhm yea I’m sorry”. No additional options, no come back and see us, translation… yea whatever. There were two women at the next table that saw it and said to the waitress that she was wrong for what she was doing and told me I should complain to a manager. I responded “Theres no point… it would be a waist of time.” I was going to leave it there and just not give them my business as we relocated to a close by neutral area. As a retired disabled veteran who’s been stationed all over the world, unfortunately I’ve become familiar with such behaviors because of my skin. (Yes I’m a black American.) I wasn’t going to label it a racial issue until my wife and I were approached by a black women that was already eating there with her family, asking us where we got our drinks from and that the staff’s customer service for them was subpar and not at the level of they witnessed other customers were receiving. They either don’t want to service black people or maybe it was just the waitress since I did pass on the opportunity to speak to management. Regardless, we weren’t welcomed and they definitely let it be know and felt. This...
