Great words from everyone unlike my daughter she was not treated like she was part of a team. yeah yeah you may say wow really 1 star? yes this place is great for boys but unfortunately i am that 1 person that did not have a great experience dishing out my money monthly for a membership so that my kid could feel a type of way every time she played and so I could watch her be treated unfair at the court while everyone watched and laughed. She joined a team with just boys hoping too get some game time and some training but that was not it and no coaches even cared. she was bullied and challenged but not in a nice way at the court yet she still attended till she had enough of the boys and had to cry her frustration out because she is taught different at home. Not a Great experience at all but much more like a sour taste. She is now training at the park with people that truly care not only for her well being but also they see potential and they take their time with her at no cost just pure love for the Basketball!!!!! Lab City was a disappointment!!!!! You should not have girls join a whole boy team knowing boys are mean at the court. There's a way to trash talk at the court and there's a way to go out your way to really make someone feel like they are not even there. My advise do better coaching. Mom's with girls if you can't afford $900.00 for a season don't waste your money on a regular sat only league even if you are getting it for literally free because it is not worth it trust me and don't say I didn't tell you so. At the end that is what reviews are for and boy were we fooled with...
Read moreLabcity is a beautiful facility. The owner is very responsive to questions about programming, those taking the money at the front are welcoming and friendly. The workers at the concession stand are even pleasant.
The one complaint I have is about the unchecked attitude of one player on a team and the referee, his father. I watched this young man grab and violently shove a player during a game earlier in the season. During this game he committed several violent fouls, one foul in particular injured another player. After the foul where he injured another player, he stepped over the player and shrugged. After this display of poor sportsmanship he continued with that style of play.
. Throughout the game the referee, his father, communicated with him. he appealed to his father for calls throughout the game. I understand that this is basketball, I understand that they are tweens and teens and their tempers will flare, what I do not understand is why those in charge allowed this behavior to continue.
This is very disturbing to me because I feel that Lab City is a great place for young people to learn and grow in the sport, I just know that I wonât bring...
Read moreThere are quite a few youth sports programs in Charlotte. Over the past 17 years my kids have been involved with some that were good and some that were not so good. Lab City however, is Exceptional! We started out with a couple hours of training every couple of weeks. Coach Speech worked one on one with my son on the Dr. Dish Shooting Machine, teaching him the fundamentals as well as advanced shooting techniques.
After the first couple of sessions, we knew we found a home. My son played on the rec team then moved to the 16U travel team. The level of care, safety, personal development, and training my son is exposed to is unmatched. This place is âall things basketballâ. There is a culture of learning here that really sets the bar high and encourages growth and development as people and as athletes.
I enjoy the family atmosphere, clean facilities, full court, training space, free parking, and ease of access from the highway. In the words of Coach Speech, âLab City is a...
