Lempira Restaurant — Restaurant in Charlotte

Central American-authentic dishes of Honduras & El Salvador, along with Mexican favorites. Just discovered this restaurant, so glad it’s only 4 minutes away from my home base. Had two dishes never knew existed: Honduran Baleada #5 (steak in a fresh large soft tortilla) and Salvadoran pupusas with lococo (interesting tropical flowering squash) and cheese, which comes with cabbage slaw and purple pickled onions. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH. Son had quesadilla con carne asada. The tortillas are freshly made, fluffy and lightly grilled. The steak cubes in both the baleada and quesadilla were grilled to perfection. The quesadilla was much better than Tex-Mex style—came with delicious sides: yellow rice with peas, pickled onions, bean mash, and a crispy iceberg salad with cukes, tomato, avocado and a French dressing with crema that was a great combination for a salad. Service was friendly and fast even though there was a dinner crowd. Presentation of the dishes was well-done. WELL I VISITED THE LOCATION DURING THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND TO PLACE A TO -GO ORDER. IT TOOK THE LADIES WHO ARE AT THE FRONT ABOUT 5 MINS TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT I WAS STANDING THERE, WHICH WAS HARD TO MISS ME BECASE THE RESTAURANT IS TINY AND THEY ARE CRAMPED UP BEHINFD THE COUNTER...I ASKED THE WAITRESS WHO TOOK MY ORDER IF SHE DID NOT GREET ME BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT I WAS AMERICAN AND NOT LATINA -AMERICAN ANS HE RESONPDED "YES" . OVER ALL THE LOCATION NEEDS SERIOUS UP-KEEP AND MAINTENACE BECAUSE IT WAS VERY UNCLEAN. I WAITED ALMOST 30 MINS AFTER I WAS QOUTED 15 MINS FOR MY FOOD TO BE READY---ONLY TO GET HOME AND FIND MY ORDER WAS WRONG---WHILE I STOOD THERE WAITING I NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE SERVER GIRLS (SAME ONE WHO ADMITTED TO IGNORING A PATRON BTW) PICKED UP A LEMON TO PLACE ON TOP OF A BEER FOR A CUSTOMER, PLACED IT ON THE BOTTLE, TOOK IT OFF WITH HER BARE HANDS BTW AND THREW IT BACK INSIDE THE BOWL WITH THE REST OF THE LEMONS..WITH THAT BEING SAID...NEVER EVER (NUNCA-UNCA)...

waitress walked away from my table several times while trying to order, we could never get enough straws for our table, employees were giving our table looks and seemed like they were taking about us and didn’t want us there. it was a party of 7 and we planned on tipping well, we ended up leaving after asking for more straws for the 3rd time and still one of us didn’t have one. i looked up as soon as i saw her still not sit down enough and she was already speed walking away. they didn’t make us feel...
