For a place called “Flavor,” the one thing missing was exactly that—from the food to the service to the atmosphere. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience left me no choice. When my friend and I walked in, we weren’t greeted warmly. Instead, we were met with blank stares and faint smiles. As a woman of color, you learn to read the room quickly. And as someone who speaks multiple languages, you learn when people think they can speak freely without you understanding. After we placed our first order and sat down, I took a little more time reviewing the menu. When I went back to order a second drink, the young woman at the counter was polite—no problem there. But after placing the order, I overheard an older staff member make a comment in Spanish to the cashier. While I didn’t catch every word, it sounded like she did mention the drink but there was extra commentary and laughter that clearly went beyond just confirming the margarita flavor. Naturally, I addressed it—in Spanish—and asked if there was an issue. That caught her by surprise. She quickly brushed it off, claiming she was only asking about the margarita flavor. That’s not what I heard, but I let it go. Shortly after, our food came out: a burnt empanada and two overly sweet, syrupy margaritas. My friend liked her churros but was disappointed with the shrimp tacos—something pretty hard to mess up. The final straw was when I left the restroom and caught a sharp, unsettling glare from what I assume was the manager—clear evidence that the gossip had already made its way through the staff because it remained that way the entire time my friend and I was there. Bottom line: for the prices they charge, the food and service should be a whole lot better. There are plenty of Latin restaurants in the area serving better food and better energy. This wasn’t...
Read moreI’m not even one to post reviews because I run a business and get reviews many times that just aren’t accurate so I get how it feels, but my experience tonight was frustrating. The food is fine. This is about customer experience. Upon arrival we were told dine in was full. I tried to ask if there was an anticipated wait for another dine in opportunity and the cashier/order taker replied with a sarcastic/annoyed response. In many instances, there is a wait with an estimated time which is the only reason I asked. But I didn’t expect a response that was essentially “I’m telling you dining in is closed and i have no idea when it’ll be available” But that was fine really no problem. Our group decided to order to go. We had a group of 6 and 3 of us had our food and were chatting while waiting for the rest of our group to get their food. A man came up and abrasively told us we need to get out. He gestured with his hands for us to get out if we already had our food. Understandable in the sense that everyone is trying their best to maintain social distancing and adhere to safety with covid-19, but he EASILY could have said “hey I’m so sorry, if you all don’t mind stepping outside since you have your food that would be much appreciated” it’s very simple to show kindness and understanding despite the stress and turmoil that we all are experiencing during this time. The tone could have been VERY different. There was no sign on the door that said to get out as soon as you have your food, we didn’t know we were doing anything wrong by waiting for our friends to get there food. A few employees had their masks under their chin or not covering their noses. So if you are wanting to adhere to safety precautions that’s part of the protocol. Customer experience is above anything else it doesn’t matter the business, and this...
Read moreSoo I'm just gonna put this out there up front: I wasn't impressed. If I had known I was gonna spend $14.00 on bland Elote and barely warm fries (Carne fries) I would have saved my carb splurge for Cabo Fish Taco next door. Like I hate when I go to places and ask the staff about the food and they lie and say it's amazing except it's not.
customer service-no complaints EXCEPT you have to order and pay at the counter before seating yourself. This would otherwise be fine EXCEPT they prompt you to leave a tip upfront but you receive NO personalized service. You have to retrieve your own food from a counter when your name is called, retrieve your own drinks and refills and condiments, and clear away your trash. Why and who am I tipping?!
Atmosphere-nothing special but there's free wifi and gender neutral bathrooms #win shrugs
Food-chile bye! I'm not even Latin and my Street Corn tastes better! Added some of the Mexican hot sauce for as much flavor as your going to get on that thing. I was really disappointed with the fries though. They were undercooked and not seasoned at all and luke warm. Like I can't really say anything else about them.
Value-idk. I just feel like $14.00 for flavorless food is not a go in my book. I'm not sure if I'll return.
Overall I was hoping for much more but sadly all I got was calories that I didn't even...
