Growler's Pourhouse (GPH) is one of my favorite places in Charlotte for their immaculate service, cocktails, food, and overall atmosphere. GPH is conveniently located in the heart of NoDA North Davidson and East 35th street right across the street from Protagonist (NoDA), Cabo Fish Taco, and right beside Crepe Cellar (which is soon to be closed). Growler's motto is "What we've got is simple: Craft Beer and Beer Food".
Growler's Pourhouse has very moody, dark intimate vibe as you walk through their extremely huge 'Nordic' wooden door; kind of speakeasy-ish. You're greeted by a big round table to the left, in-wall bench seating, a long, high-up picnic like table in the middle with bar stools, and to the right is the curvaceous bar with bar stools. The service at GPH is absolutely on-point and HE was very attentive plus knowledgeable about their products AND MORE. I literally did not have to wait to get another cocktail because my bartender was phenomenal; Definitely top-notch service. I was extremely impressed.
The food matches the service being marvelous and shockingly succulent and ambrosial. I had the absolute pleasure of devouring a couple of items on the menu (at an earlier date). I had one dozen FRESH oysters, wings (Wednesday special) which were juicy, crunchy exterior, and sauced up just right; and when they had the lobster roll, I ordered that as well which was all buttered up with an adequate amount of fresh lobster. Everything was prepared exquisitely and I HAVE/WILL be back to try some of the new(er) items.
PRO-TIP: Parking sucks in NoDA but I always take the light rail and/or Uber/Lyft. Just make sure if you take the light rail, you take it back home before it stops running! LOL!
All in all, Growler's Pourhouse is the 'Sugar Honey Iced Tea' and I would it to my family, friends, and now, YOU! I will continue to be a loyal client and they really do deserve a standing ovation for continuing to galvanize me.
Cheers MATE$! ...:::...
Read moreI cannot recommend Growlers to anyone at this point due to the extremely poor air quality inside.
The Issue: I've lived in the NoDa area since 2022 and have visited Growlers three times during that period. Unfortunately, each visit has left me smelling strongly of old frying oil, which is not only unpleasant but lingers in clothing and hair even after leaving.
Hoping the issue had been resolved, I decided to give Growlers another chance during a visit with three friends last night. However, we were once again met with the same overpowering smell of old frying oil upon entering. We stayed for about an hour, but by the end of our visit, the situation had worsened to the point that one of my friends experienced significant eye irritation, and I began feeling discomfort in my throat. We ultimately had to step outside to escape the unpleasant environment.
To Management: Please address the root cause of this problem—whether it involves the use of old frying oil or ventilation issues in the kitchen. This persistent issue detracts significantly from the experience and is not acceptable for a dining establishment. Until it is resolved, I cannot see myself or...
Read moreThis review is not for the establishment - but for a particular bartender in hopes that it is brought to management’s attention. We didn’t ask for his name because honestly, he was so hostile that we didn’t want to upset him in any way. He was wearing a white hoodie and had a mustache. I asked a few questions about to drink menu to start off and got a very sarcastic, condescending response as if I was severely bothering him asking any questions. Other guests that we were not with came up and got the same or even worse interactions. It was very uncomfortable and everyone with and around us felt very agressive vibes and it was just awkward. Hopefully this bartender was just having a bad day but it was a terrible image for the establishment. I’ve worked in the service industry and this is unacceptable. We have been here before and had great drinks and had a great time. This review is not to bash the business I just hope no one else feels the disrespect from the one employee we...
