Was a frequent visitor at this establishment had a situation arise there on February 23 in which the staff did nothing to rectify it being extremely cold in there due to the fact that they had every fan going and all the doors open even though it was fifty degrees outside. My boyfriend and I ended up leaving and going somewhere else. The Operations manager reached out and apologized and took good care of us. We returned one time after that in which the staff was great we are regulars there and most of the staff knows us and that we are good customers. We returned to this location on April 10 and our server was Haven. She never came to our table to see if we were okay or needed anything not once, the other server Matt made sure that we got refills on our drinks. When she did bring us our food my boyfriend thanked her and she just walked off. This happened a few times with him trying to be polite to her but for some reason she kept brushing us off. I called Matt over to explain the situation to him about what was going on with Haven and her not even trying to see if we were satisfied or needed anything. By this time I had lost my appetite because of the blatant disregard and I won't say Haven is racist but I could definitely tell that she is not fond of people of color. I walked out after eating half of my meal. My boyfriend told me that Haven approached him as he was paying the ticket and said if we had a problem with her we should have said something to her instead of her coworker because they are like family there and it would get back to her. This was the most conversation she had with us while we were there because she definitely was not concerned about us in any other way and it showed. The other patrons that she attended that were not of color she went out of her way to make sure that all of their needs were met. We would patronize this establishment at least three times a month but ever since this experience I will never spend another dime here. Haven and her lack of kindness and caring being in the hospitality industry and how she treated us because our skin color was different from hers is completely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a local here in NoDa, Iāve supported Cobblefish Tacos for a while. Iāve even left a 5-star review in the past because I genuinely loved the food and the vibe. But after my last three visits, I canāt stay silent anymore.
Today, Iām giving 2 stars, and honestly, itās generous compared to the experience.
Letās start with the food: ⢠The tacos were soggy. ⢠The shrimp batter was falling off, and the coating felt half-done. ⢠The steak was chewy, tough, and nowhere near the quality it used to be.
The outdoor area was also unacceptable. We sat outside, and the tables and benches were filthy. I watched how the staff ācleanedā tables ā and I say that lightly. Spraying cleaner on crumbs and leftover food, then wiping with a rag that looks like it hasnāt been cleaned in days? Thatās not cleaning ā itās spreading bacteria.
Let me break it down: Sweep off the food ā dry or wet. Spray the surface. Use a fresh or at least decently clean cloth to wipe. Repeat if needed.
This was not done. Not once.
I didnāt want to write this after the last two visits. I gave you the benefit of the doubt ā maybe you were short-staffed or having an off day. But after three bad experiences, itās a pattern, not a fluke.
I say all this because I care. Iām local. I want this place to thrive. But if management doesnāt get it together ā especially on food quality and cleanliness ā this place is going to lose its loyal base fast.
Owners, I hope you read this. Please step in before this ship sinks. I know you can bounce back ā but it starts with accountability and...
Read moreMy wife & I saw reviews for this place and decided to give it a try. We were seated promptly once we arrived and were surprised to receive chips & salsa, just as you would get in a Mexican food restaurant. The salsa was partly raw corn with some tomato-based sauce too. I didn't think I would like the salsa, but it was actually very tasty. We ordered queso too (which was also very tasty), and it wasn't long before the chips were gone and a second basket of chips was brought out. My wife ordered beer-battered fish tacos (which came with two for the meal) with a side of rice and I ordered Mahi-mahi tacos (2 also) with a side of potato mashers. My wife & I traded each other one taco so we could try them both. My Mahi-mahi tacos were okay, with a bit of a fishy flavor like the fish was a bit old. The beer-battered tacos though were on point and extremely delicious. I didn't care for my potatoes as they were instant mashed potatoes with shredded cheese and pickled jalapeño relish on top, and I don't care for pickled jalapeños. My wife's rice had a sweet fruit-flavored sauce (almost like strawberry jam) on top, which she didn't like, so we swapped side dishes and were content.
All in the food was good and the service was awesome. Our waiter kept the drinks filled and checked on us routinely even after the food was brought out. I would definitely go back to this place if I was in Charlotte again, and I would recommend it to others to...
