Taqueria Express — Restaurant in Charlotte

I recently went to this restaurant because it was in walking distance from my house and I had read the reviews that mostly seemed very positive. Met a friend there for dinner and I order steak and chicken tacos . I was really looking forward to it . My friend had a steak burrito . The prices seemed more then reasonable . Place looked clean and we got seated right away. The tortilla chips were horrible . I received my tacos which was nice and hot , I also ordered a side of fries . The chicken was dry, the steak was a bit over seasoned with salt and the tortillas were dry ..the waitress asked how everything every few minutes . I went ahead and told her my tacos are dry she went on to explain that it's normal and If you wait too long to eat them they would be dry . I have had my share of tacos and that couldn't have been farther from the truth . I asked for some sour cream to give it a bit of moisture . She didn't ask me if I wanted something else in exchange because it was truly dry . You have to pay for refills,me and friend also felt rushed to leave . I honestly would say the only good thing...

We’ve been coming here for years but today we stopped by to get lunch and ordered “pollo con nopales” and asked to substitute the rice for a salad, well the waitress said that we couldn’t switch rice for salad and we asked if they could add it then and she said NO, ok then hold the rice and she said NO that if it says it comes with rice and beans only then that was it, that we couldn’t add anything else or remove anything to the plate. We were like seriously? We honestly just got up and left, it’s so silly and it’s kind of sad because we’ve been coming here for years and never had an issue like this here or anywhere else. So if you come here just know that you cannot switch or add a side salad or anything to the any plate. So disappointing!

P.s we came to a nearby Restaurant, not gonna say say the name but we switched rice for the salad added an order of nopales, with no problems. the waitress was kind and friendly, unlike the one in this place which I will not be coming back...

I have been here many times for years. The experience I’ve had today, just ruined everything for me. I ordered my daughter a plate of cheese sticks. As she began eating her first cheese stick, she unfortunately choked on it (she’s okay now). I asked the waitress to change what we had for chicken fingers instead as she almost died eating one. the waitress told me I was still gonna get charged for the cheese sticks plate. That was absurd. I spoke with the manager regarding my concerns, and he stated that they would’ve taken it off my bill if my daughter were to say she didn’t like how the food tasted… OH BUT IF SHE NEARLY DIED, IT WOULDNT BE ENOUGH? I would also understand if my daughter had eaten most of the food.. but that’s not the case. she only picked up 1 cheese stick. on top of that, i waited 24 minutes for the new kids meal to come out.. i ended up paying for the food because i was not gonna waste any more of my time for the kids meal i asked...
