I recently chose to try The Clubhouse after receiving a mail offer for a "$3 domestic bottle" special on Monday nights as well as a buy-one-get-one food offer.
After being seated, our server, Nicole, informed us she was unaware of the special and would need to check which options it included. The restrictions that were imposed seemed artificially limited, with a few clearly domestic choices inexplicably excluded. To top it off, my second, more expensive choice of the rotating craft special was also unavailable that night.
After failing to order the special that brought us into the restaurant, we ordered the "Cheesesteak Egg Roll" appetizer, which included four standard-sized egg rolls, divided into halves for $14. At least one of the halves was covered with multiple, visible white hairs/fuzz, which is unacceptable.
I ordered the three Mahi Mahi Tacos for my entrée, which, for $15, inexplicably did not allow for the selection of the side despite being listed with options that did. The rest of the menu was busy and equally difficult to follow, neither of which was helped by the variety of font sizes/choices for the half-page of cocktail options.
When my food arrived, the three tacos were expectedly small but tasted decent. Our waitress, who could only carry one thing at a time, spilled water onto the food when placing glasses on the table, as well as around half of the chips included with the required side of chips and pico de gallo. The dropped chips (which were replaced by our waitress) turned out to be unnecessary, however, as the included pico de gallo was extremely watery, with an overwhelming and off-putting taste of vinegar.
When we asked for the bill and provided the mail offer for the BOGO food offer, our waitress returned with a mobile device that had only a non-itemized subtotal with a prompt to swipe my card, and an amount that clearly indicated the offer had not been applied (despite assurances that it had been). I decided to press the back button on the Android device and found myself able to edit not only my bill but also potentially the bills of other customers in the restaurant. In addition to this, I was also not provided with a printed receipt, despite selecting the option for one.
Overall, our experience at The Clubhouse was negative due to poor service, a confusing menu and specials, and average, questionably sanitary, overpriced food.

Read moreI have very much been looking forward to this new bar in the neighborhood, and let me tell you, it's just what we've been missing.
Got a sneak peek before their grand opening, and the food absolutely made an impression. Love that they're doing so much in-house – it really makes a difference. The Buffalo sauce is a game-changer, and the chicken flatbread? So good and such a steal. The zucchini fries are also interesting and a great deal.
I tried the tuna nachos and while tasty, I think they could beef up the tuna portion a bit to match the price. I'm hopeful they'll adjust as they settle in.
The vibe here is a whole new ball game compared to the previous spot. It's clear the owners have put a lot into revamping the place, and it's paying off. Excited to see where they take it.
Shoutout to our server, Ollie, who was fantastic. Also, it didn't go unnoticed that the owners and management made rounds to say hello, which added a nice personal touch to the experience.
Definitely coming back to dive deeper into the menu. Will keep you posted with updates after my next visit!
Update in April 2024: everything I've had on the menu so far is incredible and I've had most everything. The sliders might be the best sliders I've ever had. Truffle fries are clutch. The drinks and service here are fantastic too. I'm so impressed with the spot and excited it's in the...
Read moreFirst off, the positives. The atmosphere was clean and that's where the positives end. The food was way below average for a small party of four. In fact worse than an old diner. I asked for a medium rare burger and it came out well done literally like a brick. The portion of the shareable was small and more of a single serve. The side of bacon was like it was picked up from the LA wildfires. The scrambled eggs were like rubber and very dry. Probably made a large batch earlier in the day or something and sitting on a warmer, but it did take a good 45 mins for the food to arrive....so go figure. Portion seemed small compared to other places in CLT. Certainly not Southern hospitality. Note to chef/owner/manager - if you can't do it to acceptable levels, please take it off the menu. The waitress also seemed very uninterested in her job and didn't seem to know the menu or able to answer any questions. It was clear they were cutting corners wherever possible and it showed. Overall, we did not walk outta...
