THE CORNER BAR
“Which corner, lol.”
I texted my brother to meet us at The Corner Bar. His reply, Which corner lol. The Corner Bar is the name of the establishment and it is truly a corner front. I like unique names so the fact it was located literally on a corner made it all the worth inquiring what the atmosphere would be like. Atmosphere, energy, vibe goes hand and hand for businesses in my opinion. Décor of light to dark woods incorporated through chairs, the bar, the floor and more. Our first night walking up to The Corner Bar it was the ambiance of warmth the lighting gave off still illuminating the dark colours and furnishings. A quaint space with comfortable room to social and distance. It seemed but a second after sitting our server greeted us. He approached with hospitality that made us feel at home and as if we knew each other for a while. We went with an order of fried crab fritters, fried cauliflower with a nice spice to it, and some drinks. Before posting and boasting about the food we wanted to taste it first; we remembered taking a picture after the last bite. Need I say more. Our server was also the bartender who makes drinks worth sipping. He was everyone’s server and bartender. It was comfortably busy but Alan aka Al doing two different jobs still made the time to be friendly with all guests. Inspiring to witness. Ending our first night we extended a goodbye and Al said, see you tomorrow. Yes, the next day we went back for some lunch, try something else off the menu. A new bartender on the scene and her name is Kami. Such a kind spirit. The last few days of our time in Ayrsley, NC we made sure to visit The Corner Bar. Plenty of great eats on the menu by the way. Make sure you scan around the place lots of unique touches to admire. You must stop in if you are ever in Charlotte, NC. Some say everyone you come across in life leaves a mark, impression... I believe each day you cross another’s path is a possibility to meet someone great and or change one’s life. I am not sure, but I am curious if Alan is the owner of the place. Well, if he is not then he should be. Alan is inspiring in this post pandemic time where we need more kindness, joy, friendship, less judgement. The biggest of all is showing others love. When you do what you love it will flow through and draw one near or should I say one will come back for more! The Corner Bar in my opinion; takes loving what you do, loving others, combined with food creating the best cocktail for conversations and building friendships. Whoever said you should not hangout on the corner needs to visit The Corner...

Just opened Dec. 28, TCB is spearheaded by GM Alan Aguilera, formerly the weekend bartender at Harry's. You can find Alan and his team being friendly and goofy just down the block near the entrance to Ayrsley Grand Cinema.
It's a small space decorated with dark wood bar, dark floors, a natural barn-wood accent wall highlighting the liquor and two TVs. A small kitchen serves sliders and other small bites.
Unique drinks are the highlight, with cocktails featuring ginger beer, garnished from apothecary jars. A unique Jameson whiskey Moscow mule is served in a copper mug looking more like a coffee mug than a Moscow mule mug.
We have high hopes for Alan and TCB; the location has been a challenge for the restaurants that have come before. It won't be for a lack of style or friendly service if any problems arise.
March 2017 update: still loving this joint. Alan is working hard to pin down a more palatable menu for the masses looking for something a little heartier. Keep an eye on their other social media posts for holidays special menu items, check out the new burger offerings and the grilled sirloin, or Ahi Tuna salad.
June 2017 update: TCB has become our go to apres-work spot. Outdoor seating available for these beautimous Carolina spring and summer days (look for the bright yellow...

TCB is a "grown-up" bar. You don't come here to get hammered with the boys and watch football -- you come here to catch up with friends, enjoy a solid meal, and feel taken care of.
Alan and his team at The Corner Bar are experts in hospitality. This is the perfect spot for a first date, drinks with clients, or before catching a movie. The clientele is often evenly split between regulars, newbies, and business travelers. There's something for everyone here.
The burgers here are no joke, and TCB serves up some excellent waffle fries. Each of the bartenders here are total pros and can make you anything you'd like, even if you don't see it on the menu.
Additionally, it's worth noting that the team at The Corner Bar take COVID-19 seriously and are managing accordingly. All staff wear masks and social distancing is enforced without putting a damper on your evening.
Highly, highly, highly recommend...
