West End Fresh Seafood Market — Restaurant in Charlotte

I have been patronizing this establishment for a long time. Yes, they are a little pricey but I like what I like . I go there for the fresh whole flounder and up until now I have been very satisfied. I'm not sure what the problem might be but this is my second time ordering and paying for fresh flounder ( 15 to 20 dollars most of the time) to receive frozen fish. I know the difference between fresh and frozen it taste and cook totally different. I'm not sure if the are frying more than one or two orders at a time and mixing the fish up but I'm very upset and thinking about trying to find another fish market. I don't like anything about paying for something and you give me what you want me to have and try to convince me that it's not frozen. At this point I feel I'm being taken advantage of and my satisfaction is not a priority! When it happened the first time I brought it to their attention and their response was you have a black and white side don't you? Which confirms in my mind that what I chose wasn't necessarily what I received. There is no way my fish weighed 1.20 pounds and the fish I actually received looked to be less than .50. Was looking for fish market on my way home. Found this place and learned that they also serve cooked fish. I decided to order a perch dinner. They allowed me to sub the fries with okra… satisfied with that…it also came with hush puppies and cole slaw…. Hush puppies were good and a decent number of them…the cole slaw…..it was not a regular serving …it was in a tiny, itty bitty sauce container. I also got tea ….it was good. They have a tiny section in front of the market where you can sit and eat. I enjoyed being able to eat while it was hot. I asked for a refill of tea and they actually said no! I could not believe it! I’d spent $ 16 and was denied a refill that would cost less than 50 cent. Hence, this and the cole slaw serving reduce the stars. ...

What a yummy fresh seafood spot. All the staff were so friendly. There’s a sign up front letting you know that they are short staffed and to be patient with them. I really appreciate communication like that. I ordered several plates for family and I. Everything was a hit, from the croaker to the whiting, the flounder & the shrimp! I also had fried okra and each plate came with coleslaw & tarter. The only thing I would say was that I didn’t care too much for the tarter bc it wasn’t sweet. But that’s just my preference.
