What can I say about one of the last non-seedy Cheers-type establishments in Cville? Another place I hold near and dear to my heart. This truly is one of the last Cheers type places around (there is no Norm, though!) The bar clientele always gave me that feeling you rarely find from old establishments anymore. People will chat with you if you want, and if you don't, they'll leave you to your own thoughts. Locally owned establishment, with many items farm and bakery sourced. Easily the best draft beer selection in town with minimal permanent staples and everything else continuously rotating. The to-go selections are overwhelming. The beer buyer Seth is truly a well of beer knowledge and is passionate about helping you find what you want (if it's not there and available to order, he will!). John who runs the ship is for sure one of what I call the last true "utility" management personnel of the restaurant.....a rare breed. He's at the register ringing up customers, greeting and seating, bussing tables, making coffee, helping people who are shopping, changing kegs, running food, pouring beers, cracking jokes, and doing office work, all while running and hustling faster than anyone I've ever seen in a management position at ANY restaurant in town. The food is solid, with a nice small rotation of daily lunch specials. I will miss this place dearly, and hope that anyone who reads this will maybe pick up a sense of what I'm trying to convey. Don't skip on a visit here if you are passing through town....and if you live here and you haven't been....shame.

While in Cville, we were looking for a lunch spot with outdoor dining. Beer Run is where we ended up, and although not super impressed with the name, the place definitely exceeded our expectations! They practiced all of the appropriate precautions during this pandemic, and safety is of prime importance to us. The food was very good - great quality, service, with very little wait time. Very courteous staff. Great beer selection. Despite our great lunch experience there, the biggest WOW came afterwards when I experienced a (repeat) allergic reaction to an unknown allergy that has surfaced for me over the last few years. Because the reaction occurs infrequently I have had a hard time determining the source. After phoning the folks at Beer Run to do a deep dive into ingredients, I was super impressed with the thoroughness with which they responded, sending me detailed ingredients to everything I ate. After a few years of intermittently experiencing this unknown allergy, I believe I have finally determined the source. Their customer service on this very personal issue was incredible! I cannot thank them enough and I highly...

Gave this place 3 tries. The last time was the last. My son's Sprite came out watered down and they didn't have Pepsi for my other son. We asked for a new drink for the Sprite and a diet Pepsi for the other. We were given a root beer but not told that it was root beer (found out by drinking it) and no other drink for the Sprite. We had to ask for a new drink again after we had our food for 10 minutes. Ordered a kids hot dog with just ketchup, came out with mustard and sauerkraut on it. Had to get a new hot dog made. My son's burger was burned even though they asked how he wanted it cooked (medium well). He ate it anyway. My husband had to ask where his food was after 10 minutes of us receiving ours. Pasta salad is just oil with a side of pasta. The key lime pie bar was good! No one ever came to our table to ask if we needed refills or boxes or anything else. We ended up just paying and leaving. Overall a pretty bizarre experience and the food was very mediocre. We won't be back for the restaurant experience. They do have a decent selection of beer to buy and take home. I would only go...

Beer Run's ever-changing menu is the perfect blend of crave-worthy bar food (nachos, veggie burgers, wings, and bratwursts) and super healthy ingredients (everything possible is locally sourced and organic). It's unpretentious attitude makes for a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It gets busy in the evenings, so go early to get a table, and leave your car at home and walk if you can as parking fills up. My favorite time to go is on Saturday mornings for the breakfast tacos-- nothing beats an authentic homemade tortilla and it's a good excuse to have a breakfast beer, spicy bloody, or a nitro cold brew on tap! It's also the cheapest place in Charlottesville to share a bottle of your favorite wine from the retail section (just $5 capping fee!)—they have quite an impressive selection. And, of course, their beer selection is out of this world. It's a great place to geek out on craft beer, but they won't think twice if you just want a PBR or a Natty boh. Get thee to Beer Run!!

By definition schnitzel is a "thin slice of meat, usually thinned by pounding with a meat tenderizer" This meat was not thim nor had it been pounded On the menu it should just offer breaded pork instead of insulting the Viennese by calling this dish schnitzel. While I appreciate the effort to mitigate plastic waste in packaging some things need more effort and protection on take away orders. Chicken pot pie would be one of those items that needs extra care. I was ten minutes later than the pickup time. My lodging was 3 minutes away and all the food including the fries were lukewarm, to include the potpie. Food flavor and quality was very good but given I spent $100 on a tocgo order and had to warm my food before consumption I can't rate as high as probably should be expected. Comsidering everything, I would probably give them a try eating in but schnitzel should always be pounded to avoid fat / chewy gristle pieces. 😉
