The Red Lantern — Restaurant in Charlottesville

Unless something is wrong then they want to argue with you like you did something wrong easy to have good customer service when everything is ok, I usually order there every other night sometimes back to back nights so much so they know my order without looking it up but last night the beef smelled rancy and I called in and the lady who assume is the owner but I'm not sure said that the beef and broccoli was fine she had eaten it earlier and it was the same beef and broccoli all day, that I could bring it back after I just ordered delivery but couldn't get beef and broccoli because I might say something is still wrong with it as though I'm lying about it, she then offered to send me something else but kept correcting my statement of the food being rancy, I then told her you are more worried about wasting beef and broccoli then an unsatisfied customer who orders from you every other night and then hung up to avoid showing her my other side, I ate the food because I was that hungry and it definitely messed with my stomach, a waste of $17 I will never order...

The Red Lantern has great food! All of the so-called "haters" should go to another Chinese restaurant and compare, then you will be back! I see others complaining about pricing? Have you been to the grocery store lately? Inflation is the worst that it has been in 4 decades. Thanks Joe Burden! Red Lantern does not want to raise its prices! However, in order to survive, they have to do what they have to do, to survive! Just like any other business! With regards to the food, they have always been one of the better Chinese carry-out restaurants in the area; why do you think that they are so busy and the delivery maybe a little bit slow on certain occasions?! Has anyone been paying attention to the staffing shortages over the past couple of years? The restaurant industry has been decimated by COVID. It's a family run business that has survived the pandemic via hard work and its overall commitment to their customers! I will continue to go there and support their business. I came and got my food everything was bad my chicken was old broccoli wasn't really cooked with the chicken like it normally is I wanted hot and sour soup and got egg drop soup I was disappointed because I was hungry 😔 I took it back it was about closing time by the time I took it back the lady that owns the place told me I could come back and get the order made over on another day..... Fast-forward about 2 months maybe 3 she claimed I only needed the soup soup doesn't cost 87 bucks and some change..... I paid for the food and gave it back hints why she said she would remake my order okay I took a while to grab it but it was still her word that she gave to make my order again the rite way but she did not honor her word so I can't spend my money here anymore..... Although I thought when coming to town this Chinese food was better than the others. Thanks for the good food when I got it but I did my part by paying for food I gave back...
