9/14/2024 - Sat Restored ratting after ordering a pickup. As per suggestion from owner had a chance to taste good old southern spices of The Madras grill. Boneless chicken Briyani was awesome, the Tandoori chicken was spicy colorful and delicious in taste - perfectly cooked! The winner is the Goat Biryani - Greatest Of All Time Briyani, it is. We will dine-in and share the taste review again. 3/11/2024: Reduced review as the food quality is nogood more the same. Now the biryani and mutton are separately cooked and taste doesn't blend. Chicken fried rice too lacks egg and bland like veg rice. The taste has gone. A friend too had noticed this earlier and asked us to try a different restaurant. We will miss the good staff and may choose a different place to order. 12/4/2022: Good place to tryout Tamizh Naadu delicacies like Dosai, Idli, mini idlies, Madurai parotta mutton curry (sauce). 12/4/22: We ordered schezwan chicken fried rice, boneless chicken briani, mutton biryani, chicken 65, shrimp masala roast, tandoori chicken lollypop and their kulfi and mango lassi. Overall food quality was good. I guess the fried chicken (of their lunch buffet) was repurposed in chicken 65, chicken biryani (felt like another fried rice) and schezwan chicken fried rice. So, order only one of it. Since the all 3 tasted the same. The mutton biryani had it's flavors since it looked to be cooked along with the mutton. The shrimp masala fry looked like one more Chinese deep fry, but was good. The mango gulfi icecream was their homemade version, it tasted well. On the other hand, their pistachios icecream had more of sugar in it, felt like eating sugary stuff than real icecream. The mango lassi missed it's target by being little sour and too much of yellow food additive that stuck too much to served container too. The hotel owner please take caution on safe use of this food color which is hazardous to different people and especially children. I would recommend to avoid this. The tandoori lollipop is okay to try once.
The table spacing is little congested, we asked for a little bigger space and our request wasn't addressed properly. That's the only small grievance we had. Overall we enjoyed...
Read moreMy wife and I have always enjoyed dining at Madras Grill and have happily made the drive from Worcester on many occasions. However, our visit on August 2nd for the Kerala Sadhya lunch buffet was disappointing.
We arrived around 1:45 p.m. to find that many key dishes—including the Malabar fish fry and Kerala fish curry—were already depleted. Crowds had already formed near the tawa area, and when new batches arrived, they were limited and immediately taken by those waiting up front. Despite being told by staff that dishes would be replenished, time gaps were long and portions scarce. I was fortunate to get only one piece of fish fry (head portion), but many guests left without ever tasting it.
As closing time approached, more food came out—but by then, our appetite had faded. We ended up eating dishes we hadn’t come for, just to make the trip worthwhile. Additionally, we observed hygiene concerns, such as guests reusing dirty plates and tables left uncleared. Many diners stayed seated waiting for refills, creating congestion throughout the dining area.
Given the $25 per-person cost and the popularity of this event, we expected better planning and organization. More frequent replenishment, clear service flow, fair distribution of high-demand items, and better oversight would go a long way in improving the overall experience.
We truly enjoy Madras Grill and are sharing this feedback with the hope that future events are better managed. We look forward to returning for the great food we’ve always loved—with the hope of an improved...
Read moreI visited Madras grill today with my colleague. I was excited because I wanted to visit this place for long time.
Did you feel comfortable inside the grill?
This place is not spacious but they made sure that there is place to accommodate more people without needing to wait. They have a bar attached which is not very common in Indian restaurants.
Is the food good?
We ordered lunch buffet and I had limited options as I eat only vegetarian stuff. Started with naan and butter paneer along with donut shaped indian starter. Butter paneer is doesn’t have enough salt and you don’t feel any taste. Donut shaped starter is very plain and didn’t feel like the ones I had in India. Dosa and chattni doesn’t look like a good combo as chattni tasted unusual. They I went gobi sabbji which is even worse as they are not tender. Dal and cabbage are Okayish. Curd rice and all the other sweat dishes aren’t good either. Only thing I liked is the Rose milk.
How about the service?
We waited for the check and it took too long to arrive and we went to counter to pay bill and guy over there is taking some other order on phone and not paying attention about us for a while. Finally my co workers felt bad and disrespectful.
Should I visit this place?
I would recommend for someone who is looking for a great Indian tastes at this place. But if you are okay to try some cheap Indian buffet then you can give it a try.
Final thoughts?
As this is my first time visiting this place, i will not make any conclusions and will surely give it one more try maybe...
