The Java Room seems to be in an unfortunate state of decline, both physically and in customer service.
I've always had a great experience here, but today I stood at the counter for 5 mins before being acknowledged by the staff member who looked at us several times, but couldn't be bothered to simply say "I'll be with you in a moment".
The tables and chairs were so compacted, it was like trying to navigate a busy nightclub - or maybe more appropriately a rat maze - just to get to my seat.
The entire dining room was filthy, including the rugs; the walls are in a terrible state of disrepair. Most of the seats wouldn't even be acceptable to the Salvation Army because they're so badly worn out. I'll spare you the details of the bathroom, but rust and mildew are present.
The coffee was good, but the pastries not so much.

I went to The Java Room around mid-morning to have coffee with a friend on a cold, snowy day and was surprised by the comforting, cozy and welcoming atmosphere. They also have a wine bar that’s opened all day!!! Everyone is very friendly and courteous, the cranberry orange muffin and latté I had were delicious. I haven’t tried any other goodies yet, but they had some amazing good looking desserts on display. They offer a monthly Event Calendar and live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday at brunch time. From the welcoming atmosphere, to the friendly faces who not only remember you when you first go in, but remember your goings ons. As well s you remember theirs.
So many times I was depressed when I lost my job but everyone there have me a reason to get up get dressed and go out to this joyful place.
If all the wonderful treatment wasn't enough, they have music, live music on the weekends.
As Candy, the owner shares about music, that it brings feelings warm fuzzy feelings out. It only adds to the positive vibes.
