I have been eating at this establishment for about a year now and I feel that I have enough experience to write a fair and accurate review for this restaurant.
For starters, the restaurant has been purchased by a new owner and is now under new management. This has brought some changes that has mostly not been for the better. The wonderful egg rolls that the previous owner had is now gone and replaced with very greasy, store-bought, frozen egg rolls. They in my opinion are really terrible. The portions have been significantly cut down which takes away the great value you got with the previous owners. A lot of the dishes have been kept the same but others have not. What has improved is the turn around times for the food when you place an order. What used to be a long wait is now an instantaneous pickup. The staff is for the most part friendly and attentive and you never feel ignored when you go in there. The prices have stayed about the same but as mentioned before the portions have been drastically cut down so in reality there has been a price increase. The restaurant is very close and convenient and the closing hours are quite late which helps when you don't have time to make it to the other places that want to close by 8PM. The food is very average for a Chinese restaurant and not spectacular. You're not going to be blown away by it's quality but you're not probably going to be disappointed either. They run a clean, straightforward establishment so if you live in the area it would be worth a trip over there. If not, then maybe consider some other...
Read moreWe have eaten here for years. Always good. Now, in honesty, it’s been about 6-8 months since our last visit, but I was not prepared for how bad this was. We ordered takeout for our whole family over $100. And everyone got something different. Mongolian beef, chicken lo mein, pepper steak, sesame chicken, hot and sour soup, dumpling soup, egg rolls. Everything except the egg rolls and dumpling soup was bad. And I mean BAD. When a 23 year old guy throws food away, there’s a problem. The fried rice was odd. Strange yellow color and just rice. No veggies. At all. The Mongolian beef was literally like they had taken a jar of Korean bbq sauce and dumped it in. There were FOUR pieces of meat in the pepper steak. The chicken lo mein tasted like fish. Sesame chicken was gummy and super sweet. The hot and sour soup was gelatinous and the tofu was slimy. The little fried noodles they gave with the soup were very odd. Small and old tasting. What happened guys?? How did it get so bad. This was a Sunday at 5 p.m. a time you’d think things would be fresh. It wasn’t and we were all really disappointed because we’d been looking forward...
Read moreWe've been fans of GOLDEN CITY for a long time now. We still are! The reason that I express that we "still do" is because there have been two major events of recent that have impacted their business personally and professionally. They've had the COVID-19 restrictions and fears and they recently lost the owner and founder of the restaurant in a auto accident. That's a lot to work through! Now they have opened up their dining room and are serving in "to go" containers. That is ONLY thing that I don't like but I know it's temporary until we're past all the COVID-19 issues with the Health Department and excitable concerned patrons. The food remains excellent! The sushi is also just great! The service is attentive and friendly; everything that you want when you go out to eat. We value G.C. and they are a wonderful asset to...
