CBQ — Restaurant in Chesapeake Beach

well...we waited a looong time for this and it's not worth the wait. first dead giveaway is when you walk into a bbq joint and the open kitchen is a few feet away and you don't smell anything it's a bad sign. pulled pork was dry and unseasoned: seriously. smoked brisket was waaay too smokey(all black, no pink at all) and stringy, dry and tough. the cornbread was tiny but ok. the mac n cheese was bland and gluey. the coleslaw was good, small victory. the key lime pie was tiny and ok. ice tea had an off flavor from coffee cross contamination maybe. decor was ok. not too friendly staff....depressed perhaps? prices high as a bonus. if you want good bbq and huge portions drive to Pinky's about less than 10 minutes away. the 1936 grill in the rod and reel parking garage is pretty good. this place is lucky it has a captive audience of addicted gamblers or otherwise it would not last 2 years. food is supposed to be a loss leader when it's subsidized by easy money. i'll try their breakfast but...

The food is actually really great. The service was trash. They were short staffed and the gentleman with the eyepatch serving at the bar was openly rude and hostile to customers telling us that serving bar customers was “more important because they make money there” I patiently waited for them to serve all the bar customers to let him know I needed the drinks for my preorder. He then served a bar customer that walked up after I had asked for my drinks… for my preorder. He proceeded to give me the wrong drink. The food was merely adequate, the staff in attentive and the tables dirty. They aspire to be a good barbecue restaurant but fail in the most basic areas. I had the Pit Mix, which consisted of a choice of two meats but they limit your choices to brisket, kielbasa, or chicken. I got brisket and kielbasa. The brisket was served well done and the kielbasa was overcooked which caused the outer skin to be difficult to cut with the flimsy plastic utensils. For sides they have limited options - collard greens, baked beans, coleslaw, Mac & cheese, all in small 3/4 cup servings. It was expensive. For my wife and...
