Not sure if it's all locations or just this location. Employees seem reluctant to work here. They were out of taste testing spoons and refused to use a regular spoon. The server said the owners were very strict and they were not to give taste testing with the regular spoons. I don't know about anyone else but it makes sense to me, to allow the customer to taste a flavor before serving an entire cup of ice cream, only for the customer to throw it away. The whole entire reason coming here is so the kids could try a different flavor. 2 kids got vanilla, because they couldn't try any other flavors and knew they liked vanilla. My other daughter got cookie dough, and when she asked to have Reese's topping, the server legit questioned her as to why "it has toppings in the ice cream already" My daughter looked at me puzzled. I just said yes, she knows, but would like them. If we all wanted vanilla and couldn't try a different flavor, I would have saved the $17 and went to McDonalds and got them all...
Read moreThis is a nice little find since moving to Chesapeake. It's down on South Battlefield and I have to pass a Dairy Queen to get here, but it's totally worth it!
When you step inside they definitely have the whole retro thing going on and it works nicely. The counter is over to the left side as you enter and partially along the back. To the right are some coolers full of sodas and in the middle you find old ice cream parlor stools and chairs covered in red with metal banding around them. It's a nice touch.
On my visit I picked up a peanut butter and chocolate milkshake. I don't remember the cost but it wasn't expensive and was oooooooh so delicious. The people working there were very nice and it seems like it's a family operation.
I noticed on the way out there's also tables and chairs outside which will be especially nice once once spring and summer get here. I think on my next visit I'll bring my pup Jango and hook him up with a...
Read moreThis little franchises very welcome spot here in Great Bridge section of Chesapeake. I grew up with Carvel ice cream in New York, and it made me so happy to find the store close to my new home. The staff here is always friendly, with cheery smiles to welcome interview with. The ice cream is delicious as it always has been. I typically go there for the soft served because that's what Carvel is to me but their hard set ice cream and all the flavors it comes in is certainly a wonderful and delicious option. If you have never tried Carvel, please come in and give it at least a taste. I think it might very well give you a wonderful option to DQ(Carvel was here...
